Immaculate Conception flea market will return on Jan. 13

In case you had plans for last-minute holiday shopping at the Church of the Immaculate Conception flea market ... no flea marketing again here on 14th Street at First Avenue until Jan. 13...

The flea market moved here from Mary Help of Christians in the fall of 2012.

Makeshift flea market returns to sidewalk outside the former Mary Help of Christians lot

Nice to see an impromptu flea market of sorts happen on Avenue A between East 11th Street and East 12th Street... the Mary Help of Christians flea market ended its run in the fall ... it now happens every Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church on East 14th Street and First Avenue ...

Immaculate Conception Church flea market is on

The Mary Help of Christians flea market on Avenue A at East 11th Street officially ended the first weekend of September (to make way for some unspecified, incoming development) ... and the action was moving over to the Immaculate Conception Church on East 14th Street at First Avenue...

Well, today is the first day. And here are a few shots from early this morning, where some vendors — and familiar faces — were still setting up...

There are also vendors in the church's gymnasium, where every photo I took came out really blurry. Like this one!

Anyway. Every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A few vendors return to the Mary Help of Christians flea market

As you may recall, signs went up on Labor Day weekend announcing that the flea market in the Mary Help of Christians lot was ending its run ... and moving to the Immaculate Conception Church on East 14th Street and First Avenue in October.

However, as you may have noticed here on Avenue A at East 11th Street, a few vendors were around last weekend... and some more are back today...

Last look at the corner of Avenue A and East 11th Street

As noted earlier today... this is the last weekend for the Mary Help of Christians flea market on Avenue A at East 11th Street ... Some sort of housing is expected to take over this space.

Here are a few photos via Bobby Williams...

Welcome to the Mary Help of Christians flea market

I'll go back later....but it's on.

The Mary Help of Christians Church Flea Market returns today

EV Grieve reader Shawn Chittle sent along this photo from yesterday afternoon... prep work for The Mary Help of Christians Church Flea Market, which returns today to 11th Street and Avenue A...

If you swing by, then let me know how it is... good stuff? Total crap? Drugs? Porn?

No sign of a condo as flea market returns to the Mary Help of Christians

As I mentioned, The Mary Help of Christians Church Flea Market comes back this Sunday to 11th Street and Avenue A

Reminders! No drugs and porn!

Anyway, the return of the flea market here on a regular basis makes me wonder whatever happened to the deal to develop this space?

The Mary Help of Christians Church Flea Market returns next week

This morning, police told the usual crew of sidewalk sellers on Avenue A at 11th Street to move out...

One of the men told me the police said that they needed permits to sell their junk. The man didn't seem to mind because he'd be back next week "inside."

That's right... the Mary Help of Christians Church Flea Market returns for good next Saturday....

...and, please note... you'll have to sell your drugs and porn elsewhere...
