Evening Dew Spa rides off into the sunset on 9th Street
A for rent sign arrived on Tuesday outside the Evening Dew Spa (aka Skyline Spa) on Ninth Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue... presumably bringing an end to this 24-hour spa that provided a variety of spa services, and not just in the evening, per its website...

Pastel Spa & Nails closes on 2nd Avenue; murals outside tanned over
Pastel Spa & Nails shut down after the business day on Sunday... management here on Second Avenue and 12th Street left a note thanking its customers ...
No word what was behind this departure. (And another EV spa closure.) There are approved permits on file with the DOB for interior renovations, though they don't mention anything about the next tenant (or offer clues such as "eating and drinking establishment").
Meanwhile, a worker painted over the murals on the 12th Street side yesterday, as this photo via EVG reader Charlie Chen shows...

Back in September, six artists painted murals on this space — dubbed the #212wall.

USA Body Work out of business on 6th Street
The no-frills massage place at 516 E. Sixth St. between Avenue A and Avenue B is gone. Someone cleared out the storefront last week.
USA Body Work was open 24/7, and I'm pretty sure the couple who ran it lived in the back, which is why sometimes they might work in their pajamas.
Anyway, no official word on why they closed. And this marks the fourth massage-spa business to close in the neighborhood this year.

Tough times for spas
Three spas have recently closed in the East Village...
---
The Red & White Spa recently shuttered on Third Avenue at 10th Street ... the spa was previously in a smaller space on the other side of the Taste Wine shop next door ... Before Red & White took over, this prime corner space was the Element Beauty Lounge.
---
The former Top Beauty Spot on Second Avenue between 12th Street and 13th Street is for rent...
---
And EVG reader Amy mentioned that the Lavender Mini Spa on Fourth Street at First Avenue hasn't been open of late... the gates remained down this weekend. Their phone is not in service.

Spring Spa signage blooms on 5th Street
As you can see Spring Spa is coming soon to 325 E. Fifth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue.
Not sure at the moment what type of spa services they will offer — Mani/pedi? Massage? Cryolipolysis?
This space adjacent to the 9th Precinct was previously home to Goloka Juice Bar, the sometimes-open shop that closed late last year after some three-plus years in business.

Eye Beauty Spa will soon be open on East 4th Street
And over at 199 E. Fourth St., signage arrived for the new tenant — Eye Beauty Spa...
The Spa will offer an array of services, including eyelash extensions, facials, waxing and permanent makeup, which is available for eyebrows, eyeliner and lips. They have a website here.
The location here between Avenue A and Avenue B housed Salon Champu until December 2014.

Spa games on 13th Street
On 13th Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue....
First, this spa on the north side of the street lost their lease....
...and they're moving up the street where Upland Trading used to be.
I bring this up because... at first glance, the renovations at Upland Trading had a bar/cafe vibe. But a worker at the site assured me it was just the spa moving up the street.

Questions of the day
Why is this newish spa on First Avenue and 2nd Street called Water Front? (The East River isn't exactly that close.)
Meanwhile, I saw this sign go up Tuesday night on St. Mark's Place.
Does the neighborhood really need another Asian spa? Seems as if several other new spas have opened recently...
