2011, the year punk pizza broke: Two Boots introducing the CBGB slice
Lenny Kaye will be on hand Friday afternoon at 2 for the unveiling of "CBGB (OMFUG)" pizza — available only at the 74 Bleecker St. Two Boots near Broadway.
Per an e-mail:
"Join us for a free taste of 'The CBGB (OMFUG),' check out the rock 'n roll memorabilia, and look out for other indigenous pizzas coming soon to all Two Boots locations."
The pizza has chicken, broccoli, garlic and basil pesto. (A slice is $3.75.)
As the tipster who sent this along noted, "I'm not sure how well broccoli goes with pesto, but it's Two Boots — they'll make it work."

Sounds disgusting. In more ways than one.
As long as it's not a "CBGB Chili" pizza...
I enjoy Two Boots but I feel like too many of their pizzas have chicken on them! Chicken on a pizza... blahhhh
not sure how basil pesto conjures the spirit of CBGB. i would have thought more onions, sausage?--you know, the rougher end of pizza toppings.
It's a wonder that Two Boots wasn't able snatch up place on the Bowery themselves.
And why are they going to the west side for an intro????
CBGB food was notorious for people pissing and jerking off into it...I'm just sayin'
That sounds terrific! I got some ideas for pizzas.
How about Ben Shaoul Pizzas, or how about Steve and Harriet Croman Pizzas, or Don Cappoccia Pizzas, what about Dominic Pisciotta and David McWater Pizzas, or, there are so many more I could just go on and on and on
Nice - the first three could have crumpled, fried pig meat and the second set could have sauteed snake skin.
@Cookiepuss
Heh. I was going to ask what the ingredients would include...
that sounds pretty good anon, pig meat and snake skin
what about a whole baby lamb on the pizza or how about the horses ass pizza
Chicken, Broccoli, Garlic, Basil... C'mon people: that spells C-B-G-B!
@hens
Haha! Totally missed that... nice...
Whoa!
Check out the brain on hens!
well, in that case, that pizza should also have onions, meatballs, figs, uragula, and gravy
at least that cbgb slice ain't no artisanal
hens, thank you, now i get it!
i also like "horse's ass pizza."
Ah yes, because when I think of CBGB's, I think of supremely mediocre pizza
I had a taste when they were "R&D"ing this slice at Two Boots Avenue A. Surprisingly tasty (even with the broccoli)...but was a bit bland. I think they switched to BBQ Chicken to spice it up. In any case- Two Boots supports lots of community programs, so the community should support them!
(Do we really want more Papa Johns???)
I agree with Anonymous 7:08. Spend your money there instead of a chain. It's cool that Lenny Kaye is going to be there. If I didn't have to work I'd go and say hi and have a slice.
John Varvatos supports the pizza, and as a matter of fact, does and always has had an affiliation with CBGB and New York's punk era, as do so many people who have recently moved into the new downtown area. Who knew?
Everybody go out and get a fucking slice! This is the best pizza in town!
BE THERE OR BE SQUARE
I agree everyone should support Two Boots in the EV instead of Papa John's, but the owner really left us with a mess to clean-up. He got a full liquor license for Mo Pitkins at 34 Ave A a few years back to open a performance space/bar. This location never had a license, but he got it because he was a "good guy supporting the arts". The business was a bust so he sold the joint to that shit show called Aces and Eights. Same thing with the Pioneer Theater - no license, gets a license "for the arts", then sells to a huge comedy club. Meanwhile he keeps open his locations all over the City, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Bridgeport, Baltimore etc. Couldn't he have shut one of these down to "save the arts" in the EV and left us with the Pioneer Theater, or at least freakin the video store.
Thanks alot buddy!
