Per the Streeteasy listing:

This is a huge space... meaning that something as unique as the Ukrainian Sports Club will likely become a chain store...
Also, as you may recall, a fire broke out on the upper floors here back in June. And from NY Songlines: La Mama Experimental Theater Company was here until 1969.

Is the Ukranian Home Restaurant remaining open??
Oh, godDAMN it!
Different building, you're thinking of the Ukrainian National Home at 140 Second Avenue.
I had my wedding reception in the back room there, it's a fabulous space.
Sad. The neighborhood is losing another bit of its East European character.
Let's hope a "good neighbor" at least moves in to the building, and not another vile chain restaurant or store.
I am happy they are going out business. The way they treat their customer is awful.
Also they don’t pay their fair share of sale tax. Shame! Shame! Shame!
The neighbors don't include WAMU, since they were eaten by Chase. Don't know if the realtors are being lazy or what Maybe they're trying to be sleazy but failing because they're too stupid?
