You've likely seen this Mad Max-era RV parked around the neighborhood in recent months.
Back in March, BoweryBoogie spotted the vehicle with corrugated siding and barred-over windows parked at the Baruch Houses. (We've seen it moored on East Fourth Street between Avenue A and Avenue B.)
BoweryBoogie reported that this Urban Assault Vehicle had "instilled a sense of intrigue (nay, suspicion) among the population." (Curbed wrote that "this might be the scariest vehicle, recreational or otherwise, we have ever seen.)
For the past three weeks, the RV — which has a bed and some flowers inside its rather nondescript interior — has been parked on East Houston … anywhere between Avenue A and Avenue C. A few residents apparently have complained "because of garbage in the street and [the owner] sitting there idling, causing noise and fumes," one resident told us.
One resident also said that the owner, who apparently lives inside, was BBQing on the street, which prompted a visit by the FDNY.
Anyway, the owner has introduced himself as "an artist working at the Whitney Museum."

Perhaps the artist will even arrange a shuttle service between here and the Whitney.

Rats, I was really hoping it was Daryl Dixon taking up residence in the EV, crossbow and all.
He's a bad roving neighbor. He dumped a mattress in front of our building, for which we could have been fined by DSNY.
There is also a van parking all around the neighborhood that appears to be populated by teens or maybe they're 20somethings who look like teens. One of them was sort of splayed out in front of the pet store on 14th Street near First Avenue yesterday, and the others were checking on him. I feel bad for them. They have come to the East Village expecting to find all the other crusties, but I think the cooler crusties who are in the know realize the East Village isn't a cool place to hang out anymore.
The way to solve the noise problem with these vehicles is a well-aimed rock or brick.
Anon @7:57 AM: If he had parked by the Whitney he'd have been ticketed, towed, and probably forfeited the vehicle because it most likely does not conform to motor vehicle requirements in NYS/NYC.
But the eastern EV is still not gentrified enough for NYPD to bother with trash on the street.
Leaving your truck idling while parked, throwing your trash in the street, those aren't friendly, neighborly things to do.
@Anon 8:21 - I recently spied one using the lawn at Village View as his personal putting green.
This is very common in LA. Expect this to be a new trend. Is it legal to park an RV and live in it in NYC?
Our super piles the garbage up in the same place every other day, which happened to be where this guy had his RV parked for 2 weeks. Jared would retaliate by leaving his garbage on our doorstep. Don't waste your money on his exhibition.
Anon @4:47 PM: according to the link posted in EV's article the "exhibit" is "free to the public". Looking at the photo of his "Untitled" work it appears that his "artwork" is basically a room full of garbage strewn about. So don't throw away the trash he leaves on your doorstep, call the Whitney and see how much they will pay to acquire it for their collection!
RV is cool... but if you can vomit on a wall your "art" can end up in the Whitney.
