Wednesday's parting shots
Christo*****, the resident red-tailed hawk of Tompkins Square Park, road tripped to Fourth Street between Second Avenue and the Bowery today... where Derek Berg took these photos...
***** Hold on! Per Goggla, this may not actually be Christo! It is defintiely an adult red-tailed hawk... but this hawk has a molting tail, and Christo usually molts later in the summer. Perhaps it's one of the hawks from Washington Square Park... or an adult red-tail stranger... to be continued...

I'm trying to get a look at Christo's tail and will report back with an ID as soon as he cooperates...!
Great shots, well done Derek Berg!
Hawks are fiercely territorial, so if this isn't Christo, we could be in for a Hawk Fight!!
MrNiceGuy, thanks so much.
Aha! I knew something was up when I saw a carpet of pigeon feathers and bits in front of my building.
I just found Christo and can report that he still has all his tail feathers, so this adult hawk on 4th Street is a mystery visitor. It's unusual to have a strange adult within the territory of an established pair, so the presence of this one is intriguing.
Thank you for investigating, Goggla!
