Goggla, this
may not actually be Christo! It is defintiely an adult red-tailed hawk... but this hawk has a molting tail, and Christo usually molts later in the summer. Perhaps it's one of the hawks from Washington Square Park... or an adult red-tail stranger...

Aha! I knew something was up when I saw a carpet of pigeon feathers and bits in front of my building.
I just found Christo and can report that he still has all his tail feathers, so this adult hawk on 4th Street is a mystery visitor. It's unusual to have a strange adult within the territory of an established pair, so the presence of this one is intriguing.
