The Dolly Llama has been closed since the late summer at 137 First Ave. between St. Mark's Place and Ninth Street.
According to the gate signage, the ice cream and waffle shop, which opened in March, is "temporarily closed for remodeling and a refreshed look."
Dolly Llama Watchers (oh, there are some!) wondered why they might need a refreshed look after just six months.
In any event, the EV location is no longer listed on the Dolly Llama website. And based on the mail and leaves inside the front doorway, no one has been inside of late. However, in an Instagram message, management said they didn't have a reopening date yet but hoped to soon.
The Dolly Llama started in Los Angeles in 2017, and there are multiple locations now in the United States.

I haven't been following this, but my thought is: Why would anyone think they could make a go of it in Manhattan, just selling waffles?
Usually when you see a business founded in another U.S. city open a location in NYC it is either a) a place with a devoted following, either because of the quality of its product or the quality of its branding (or some combination) and it's at least kind of a big deal when they set up shop here, or, b) they are a big regional chain that is now expanding to the Northeast. Clicking on link to see their locations, they do not seem to fall into either category.. Twelve or so locations spread between L.A., Sacramento, Utah, Dallas, McAllen, TX, Orlando and Jacksonville. No more than 1 or 2 shops in any of those places.
Waffles with ice cream in a nice presentation, why wouldn't that work? Good location too, look what are the neighboring shops.
Stopped in and gave the waffle ice cream sammich a try. It was just what my type II needed. Delicious. Wishing them a speedy renovation.
Never underestimate the appetite for carbs and sugar in this country.
