The Heytea signage arrived Monday at 128 Second Ave. between Seventh Street and St. Mark's Place.
As we noted in October, the brand started in China in 2012, and now there are 4,000-plus locations worldwide selling a variety of milk and fruit teas... including a handful in NYC. They are known for drinks topped with a layer of cream cheese foam.
No word on an opening date.

Cream cheese foam?!?? 😑
This just makes me so sad for the EV and NYC, formerly the home of so many good, reasonably priced Mom and Pop restaurants, forced out by predatory capitalist real estate developers. Then EV gets a Dunkin, now gone 7-Elevens replacing bodegas, and coffee chains like Blank owned by private equity. And this is the second China owned massive chain post in a row. DEPRESSING. There is a globalization but then there is predatory capitalist domination.
That’s exactly what the world especially the east village needs right now, teas topped with cream cheese foam. Why is this once artistic bohemian neighborhood being tortured like this? I would rather see a closed graffiti ridden storefront than this trendy nonsense, can’t wait for the lost tic tic crowd to form a line around the block. God save us from the future!!!
