I was there. Ten's of thousands folks showed up representing the diversity of ideas, opinions and cultures that can be found in but a very few places in this world; all having one thing in common - a deep hatred for this current buffoonery and a desire to bring back normalcy, respect and the rule of law.
At one point, the length of the march stretched from Madison Park at 23rd and 5th, all the way up to NY Public Library and around to Bryant Park. Massive!
The remarkable aspect the event was the almost complete absence of a police presence. At one point I stopped to look around and couldn't find one officer in view for blocks. They had a drone in the sky and a few patrol vehicles scattered along the protest route, but that was it. When I did see any police, they were calm and observant, but in no way authoritarian. They just took the whole thing in stride.
The protest organizers directed the event in much the same way that the "open streets" folks do, by halting the march every block or so and allowing drivers to pass through. Everyone was acted as adults and if there were any problems, which I'm guessing that there weren't, otherwise, it would have made headlines in the media.
There was a small contingent of trump supporters at the beginning of the route. And, as you would expect, they were absolutely proud of ensconcing themselves in the usual banners and hats that makes them stick out like a sore thumb. Not surprisingly, acting in the same childish manner as their dear leader while noisily shouting out the usual ridiculous statements that they've heard on Faux News. Collectively, their performance illustrated they had an IQ less than that of a fencepost. Everyone ignored them, much to their chagrin.
The moral of all this is - ACT UP, FIGHT BACK! We have no one to blame but ourselves for allowing this travesty to go further.
Mehhh...this happened during his first term and HE GOT ELECTED. The current two-party system is obsolete. These bums (donkeys and dumbos) got this country into over $30tn in debt. What's the definition of insanity?! Doing the SAME thing over and over again and expecting a different result!

I see the "both sides" POV has made its appearance.
