The all-new Bleecker Street Bar debuts on Wednesday

The new location of the Bleecker Street Bar debuts Wednesday morning at 648 Broadway between Bleecker and Bond.

Opening day hours: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Follow the bar on Instagram for updates.

As previously reported, the neighborhood bar's 30-year tenure on the corner of Bleecker and Crosby ended in August 2020. Per the owners at the time: "All of our efforts to negotiate a reasonable lease extension with our landlord have failed." (The storefront is now home to the New York flagship store for Sabah, which offers high-end leather Turkish slippers and other accessories.)

BSB fans were pleased that management could line up this new space just around the corner on Broadway... and along a corridor without a lot of neighborhood bar options.

The renovations happening inside the all-new Bleecker Street Bar on Broadway

It doesn't appear that much is happening behind the blank storefront at 648 Broadway between Bleecker and Bond.

However, behind the closed doors and papered windows... the new home of the Bleecker Street Bar is coming together.

Management has been sharing updates on the bar's Instagram account... recent additions include a pool table... high-top tables ... and dart boards ... all elements of the previous incarnation...
The bar's Instagram account lists an early 2023 opening date.

A look at the in-progress new home of Bleecker Street Bar — on Broadway

All has been quiet on the new Bleecker Street Bar front this past year or so... But!

The bar provided an update on Instagram (where the top pic is from) late last week:
We have been quiet but we have been busy! We promised you the best Bleecker Street Bar 2.0 we could make and we are happy to say we are building! It's been an incredibly long and hard couple of years for so many people and we can't wait to welcome all our people back and raise a glass to resilience and community.
As previously reported, the neighborhood bar's 30-year tenure on the corner of Bleecker and Crosby came to an end in August 2020. Per the owners at the time: "All of our efforts to negotiate a reasonable lease extension with our landlord have failed."

However, they lined up a new space just around the corner at 648 Broadway between Bleecker and Bond.

In the Instagram comments, management figured they'd be open by late summer/early fall.

The now-closed Bleecker Street Bar looks to relocate to Broadway

Bleecker Street Bar is hoping for an encore presentation.

The neighborhood bar's 30-year tenure on the corner of Bleecker and Crosby came to an end back in August. Per the owners at the time: "All of our efforts to negotiate a reasonable lease extension with our landlord have failed."

However, they have a new spot lined up just around the corner at 648 Broadway between Bleecker and Bond (see top photo) ... and in recent weeks they've been collecting signatures via iPetitions. You can find that link here

Meanwhile, their former home remains empty... and right next door to the Noho Star — still vacant after three years.

Bleecker Street Bar closing on Aug. 30

Bleecker Street Bar's 30-year tenure on the corner of Bleecker and Crosby is coming to an end this month.

Yesterday, owners of the neighborhood bar announced a permanent closure at this location after service on Aug. 30. Apparently the landlord wasn't interested in a lease extension.

On the positive side, they did leave open the possibility of a return in another location. Here's part of the announcement via Instagram:

It is with a very heavy heart that we are here to announce we will be closing our doors here at 56 Bleecker Street end of day, August 30th. All of our efforts to negotiate a reasonable lease extension with our landlord have failed.

We will be looking into some possible future incarnation of Bleecker Street Bar, and we will keep fighting the good fight, but the one thing we know for sure is that our industry has taken some fatal blows, and the future is very uncertain. We have loved being a part of NoHo, watching the many incarnations over the years, even though it's painful to feel there are less and less neighborhoods for places like us to exist anymore.

But onward we go...Now we especially would like to thank the many many people who have made our bar so special over the last 30 years. It's true that the people make a place, and we have been incredibly fortunate to have the best customers, and far and away the best staff since we opened our doors in 1990. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. So come on by in the next few weeks, enjoy some outside seating, some dumplings, and raise a glass.

With love and a broken heart,
-The Owners, Managers, and Staff of Bleecker Street Bar.
