Former Los Tacos space now a 787 Coffee training facility on 7th Street

If you glance inside 117 E. Seventh St., you might get the idea that a new coffee shop is opening here between Avenue A and First Avenue. 

And it's understandable why you might think that with the setup...

Turns out that this is a barista training site for 787 Coffee, which has a shop down the street as well as on Second Avenue, 14th Street and several other NYC locations. 

It's not open to the public, but they did let EVG contributor Stacie Joy in for a photo.

The previous tenant here, Los Tacos NYC, closed in June. The taqueria, operated by Brandon Pena and Sam Sepulveda, the owners of 787 Coffee, debuted in October 2020 to positive reviews.

Los Tacos NYC has apparently closed on 7th Street

The gate has been down recently at Los Tacos NYC, 117 E. Seventh St. between Avenue A and First Avenue.

There's a handwritten "I'm sorry. We are closed. See you later." sign on the door. Google now lists them permanently closed; the phone goes to a voice mailbox that was never set up. And they are no longer on Seamless. We reached out for more info.

The well-reviewed taqueria opened in October 2020... operated by Brandon Pena and Sam Sepulveda, the owners of the 787 coffee brand with a shop on the same block.

Los Tacos NYC debuts today on 7th Street

Los Tacos NYC debuts today at 117 E. Seventh St. between Avenue A and First Avenue. 

The folks who operate 787 Coffee down the block are behind this taco operation, which will be open from 10 a.m. (breakfast!?) to midnight daily. No sign of a menu just yet. You can find their Instagram account at this link

This storefront was previously Future You Cafe, which closed in the spring as a result of the pandemic.
