Sunday's parting shot

Happy to see Michael Sean Edwards this afternoon... the photographer, who lived in the East Village for decades before relocating to Brooklyn, was showing new work titled "Riding the Rails" just for today at Mildred on Ridge Street between Stanton and Rivington.

Through the years, we've posted some of his 1970s-1980s photography (like here ... and here). Check out his self-published book titled "Past Future Past — The East Village 1978-1980" right here. 

You can also see some of his work on the walls at Gnocco on 10th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B.

'Past Future Past' now at 9th Street Espresso

We're behind in noting that EVG contributor Michael Sean Edwards is showing some of his work at 9th Street Espresso (the one on East 10th Street near Avenue B).

There you will find some of his images from his book, "Past Future Past: The East Village 1978-1980."

His work is on display through Dec. 17.

Michael has gathered some of his images for a self-published book titled "Past Future Past — The East Village 1978-1980."

He is hosting a reception Monday evening at Eleven B (woo! free pizza!), 174 Avenue B and East 11th Street.



It starts at 5:30 … to 8:30 or so.

East 12th Street and Avenue A tonight: Waiting for the President to pass by

Our photographer friend Michael Sean Edwards was among the many stuck waiting at 12th Street and Avenue A tonight ... He passed along a few photos from the corner...

... and the money shot...

So what was the story? The NYPD wasn't letting anyone cross 12th Street from C to Fifth Avenue for nearly 30 minutes? One person told me that, though we weren't sure exactly what the wait time was...

Michael Sean Edwards was at the Life Cafe Sunday night, when it closed "until further notice."

That overarching feeling of nostalgia

Back in February in February 2010, we came across the Flickr page of East Village resident Michael Sean Edwards, who had uploaded an array of neighborhood photos from the late 1970s and early 1980s...

Michael, who still lives in the neighborhood, let us know that he now has a website with various galleries of his work. You can find his site here.

As he wrote: "This gallery is fairly eclectic. Between what seemed very brief periods of being gainfully employed, I roamed around the Village taking photos, day and night. If I had to describe the overarching feeling that inhabited me, I would call it nostalgia."
