Post debuts in new 3rd Street space

Post debuted over the weekend in its new digs at 217 E. Third St. between Avenue B and Avenue C.

As previously reported, the four-plus-year-old cafe that serves a variety of comfort food and cocktails was moving to this larger space from 42 Avenue B between Third Street and Fourth Street.

For now, Post is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Dinner hours to come!) You can find a menu here. And their Instagram here.

The last tenant in the retail space was the cocktail bar Corlear's NYC, which closed in early 2017. The address was immortalized in Lizzy Goodman's 2017 oral history, "Meet Me in the Bathroom: Rebirth and Rock and Roll in New York City 2001-2011," when it was the Plant Bar, the hangout for James Murphy and DFA Records and a lot of other people in the book.

Post unveils signage at new 3rd Street location

Post has made their new location official ... as noted back in October, the four-plus-year-old cafe was moving on from 42 Avenue B between Third Street and Fourth Street.

As you can see, the Post sign is now up at the new larger location close by — 217 E. Third St. between Avenue B and Avenue C. (Thanks to George for the photo!)

The last tenant in the retail space was Corlear's NYC, a "Pre-Prohibition style bar executing vintage cocktails." They closed in early 2017.

Post is currently closed for the move... no word yet on an opening date for the new Post — you can keep tabs on their activity via Instagram

Post on the move to a new East Village home

After nearly four years at 42 Avenue B between Third Street and Fourth Street, Post will be moving to a new (and undisclosed) East Village location.

Owners Michael and Bobby Stackleather teased the upcoming move in an Instagram post yesterday, simply noting: "Just a heads up!! We’re moving!! Well keep you posted!!" In the comments, they noted that they will be "just around the corner." (Plenty of options!)

From the look of the Instagram preview photo, the cafe will have more room. And a side street might be a better vibe for the low-key Post, away from the mostly maskless crowds seen loudly congregating at nearby hotspots.

Meanwhile, Post is open Wednesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Find their website here.

Reader appreciation: Post

A reader shares this via the EVG inbox...

The owners of Post — brothers Myki (left in the above photo) and Bobby Stackleather — are remaining open for takeout, including serving the best biscuits, to feed the neighborhood.

In addition, in a time when they themselves are under every challenge, they’re also turning over their kitchen to help feed health-care workers. They’re generous people and really jumping into action right now.

Post is at 42 Avenue B between Third Street and Fourth Street. They are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can read more about their fundraiser to feed hospital workers here.

Post, a new cafe, opens on Avenue B

Back in the fall of 2015, we heard that a new cafe was in the works for 42 Avenue B between Third Street and Fourth Street.

In recent weeks it looked as if the place was getting ready to open... The cafe, called Post, debuted last week. EVG reader ‏@Jason_Chatfield shared these photos from yesterday...

The menu shows several varieties of biscuits for breakfast ... as well as coffee and tea...

Lunch and dinner are coming soon, per the Post website.

And we don't know too much else about Post at the moment. (Updated: Gothamist has more on Post here.)

The address was previously home to Coyi Cafe, which closed in January 2014 after five years in business.
