Bakery opening on St. Mark's Place

Last September, a thrift store-boutique called Junk took over the former De La Vega Museum on St. Mark's Place between Avenue A and First Avenue. In March, Junk closed.

Now! Workers have been renovating the space. One worker on the scene said that a bakery would open here in the next two weeks. A quick look inside confirms like a bakery-looking business is in the works.

No more Junk on St. Mark's Place, so to speak

Back in September, as we first reported, a thrift store-boutique called Junk took over the former De La Vega Museum on St. Mark's Place. (And despite the name, this location had nothing to do with the Junk outlets in Williamsburg.)

In any event, Junk has quickly called it a day... the shop is now empty...

The former De La Vega Museum is now called....

An EV Grieve reader sends along a photo this afternoon of the new signage at the former De La Vega Museum on St. Mark's Place.... freshly painted....

Junk!

Soon to be home to an outpost of the Williamsburg store. This store has nothing to do with the Williamsburg location... they just borrowed the same name...

Former De La Vega Museum becoming a vintage clothing store

We first reported that the De La Vega Museum had closed on St. Mark's Place last month...

A reader sends along this photo... noting work is going on inside. Per the reader: "kinda looks like the makings of a vintage/thrift shop."

Indeed it does...

The proprietor confirmed that a vintage clothing store — featuring new and used clothing — will be open here by early October...

[Updated, sort of] The dream is apparently over: De La Vega Museum closes on St. Mark's

Per an alert reader... The De La Vega Museum, run by artist James De La Vega, appears to be closed... the store is all but empty.... (which may explain why he was giving away art recently....) We'll have more on this later...

Friday morning:

Swung by the shop/museum last evening and this morning... all closed up... Considering his penchant for signs in the window...

....I'm surprised there isn't one letting people know what happened...

Meanwhile, near the shop, an unattended mattress sits without a "become your dream" slogan.
