Noted

An urban etiquette note as seen on Third Street between Avenue A and Avenue B...

Stop shitting in our garden.
We are tired of picking up your shit.
Stop being a criminal.

Anyway, enjoy your Easter holiday weekend (if you celebrate)!

Thanks to Mark White for the photo!

How does the East Village stack up in the city's dog poop wars?

[EVG file photo from East 12th Street]

Pretty well, thanks!

DNAinfo has unleashed a handy interactive map that shows dog poop complaints by zip code in the five boroughs.

Around here, zip 10009 logged 30 complaints to 311 while 10003 tallied 10 complaints in the past two years. You have to head up to Hamilton Heights in zip 10031 to find any comparable numbers in Manhattan.

Still, the number here are dwarfed by several neighborhoods in the Bronx — Norwood, West Farms and Soundview — which led the five boroughs in complaints to the city's 311 system with 135 or more.

Not picking up after your dog is a violation of the "Pooper Scooper" law, introduced in 1978, which carries a $250 fine. But, as DNAinfo notes, a sanitation officer must witness a violation in order to issue a ticket, according to the Department of Sanitation.

BMW Guggenheim Lab removes poop just like everyone else

Well, with all that think tanking going on here, we figured they'd have come up with a novel urbanistic, sustainable solution for waste removal by now. But, to be fair, they still have until Oct. 16 ...

Toilet training

Found on the sidewalk on Avenue C between Eighth Street and Ninth Street...Dunno which building has the tenants who are flushing things other than waste and toilet paper down the toilet. I cropped out the footprint. Which may have been a mistake. A clue!

Last time I stayed in a place where everyone could watch me go to the bathroom, I was in jail

"From the chic boutiques of London and Los Angeles to hot new hotels in more exotic locales like India and China, exposed bathrooms are a growing trend — whether in the form of transparent glass walls and shower stalls or bathtubs set in the middle of the bedroom like free-standing sculptures." Thanks for the memories

"The cleanup crew at Webster Hall was left with quite a mess on its hands after country crooner Keith Urban's performance last Wednesday. According to sources at the club, someone aboard a Verizon-sponsored Keith Urban tour bus emptied the vehicle's septic tank outside the East 11th Street club at 3 a.m., after the show. "There was about 150 square feet of gunk, a half an inch think, outside the main entrance," says one employee. "It was a literal [expletive] show." (Page Six)

Everyone seems to be shitting on the financial-services sector these days

At 2 Gold Street: They're just not that into poo

Are residents of 2 Gold Street forgetting to clean up after their dogs? Officials at the Sovereign Bank branch, which has a ground-floor location at the FiDi residence on Gold Street and Maiden Lane in the Financial District, decided that several "curb your dogs" signs were necessary for their front windows...

Of course, the signs aren't always effective.
