Studio of the day

A studio has been on the market this past month on 14th Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue.

Per the listing: "This unit features hardwood floors, a separate kitchen and room for a bed and small couch. Don't miss this opportunity to live just steps from Union Square for a below market price!"

That price is $1,895.

The listing promises a "separate kitchen."

More like "kitchen separated by the fridge."

On the positive side, it's a full-size fridge ... if you can get the door open all the way.

These charming East 6th Street studios still have the bathtub in the living space

An EVG reader on the hunt for a studio apartment shared this listing with us... for an apartment at 328 E. Sixth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue... particularly notable was that the renovated studio kept its tenement roots with a claw foot bathtub in the living area/kitchen...

Here's the listing via MNS:

This East Village 1 bedroom/ Studio + office, offers a generous space and lots of light on a charming tree lined east village block, on the 4th floor of a well kept walk up building, this is the best deal for the dollar in this hood. The apartment has a Beautiful claw foot tub in the living space.

The monthly rent: $1,800.

Oh, and the ad mentions studio + office. Maybe it's in here...

And it turns out there's another studio apartment in the same building where the tub also sits in the kitchen... for $1,900 you can rent unit #12...

...which included another detail from decades past — a so-called "tuberculosis window" ...

Head to the Streeteasy blog for more on these units.

A rental with everything but the kitchen sink (no, really)

On Monday, Curbed pointed out a cute East Ninth Street one-bedroom rental with a kitchen shower. Going rate: $2k a month. The catch: There may not actually be a bathroom in the unit. (The listing didn't mention one.)

Which brings us to a one-bedroom unit at 328 E. Sixth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue. Per the above photo, looks like there are new kitchen appliances in the space. No sign of a sink, though.

Let's look more closely at the listing (all sic):

This East Village 1 bedroom offers a gnerous space and lots of light on a charming tree lined east village block, on the 3rd floor of a well kept walkup building, this is the best deal for the dollar in this hood. The apartment has the shower and sink in the living space, they are new and well kept.

So there you go, there is a sink! Somewhere! (Funny that toilet wasn't mentioned...)

Asking price: $1,900.

Looking at a studio with a 'loft style' bedroom

We looked at a "micro loft" for sale yesterday on East Second Street. Today, let's check out what you might call a "micro studio" rental with a "loft style" bedroom at 105 E. 10th St. between Second Avenue and Third Avenue.

Per the Village Living Rentals listing, this studio features:

Oak strip flooring, high ceilings and crown molding.
Apartment has large, full separate bathroom.
Kitchen is also separate from the living space.
Bedroom is loft style!
There is a decorative fireplace!

There does not appear to be much headroom coming into the bedroom/living room/fireplace area… (tenants may need a "watch your head" sign…)

Asking price: $1,700.
