Post Irene, East River looks pretty much the same
As Dave on 7th notes, the garbage tells the story. Water level got to promenade level here along East River Park.

EV Grieve reader Alex reports the loss of a beautiful tall tree in the yard between Fifth and Sixth Streets between Avenue A and B.
Fortunately, the tree fell toward Avenue A, because otherwise it would probably have taken out some people's windows.
