Social reaction to a line at Panna II

We've mostly avoided the post-Twitter cesspool world of X, infrequently posting here and there... like the EVG Panna II parting shot from Friday evening.

However algorithms work these days, the post has racked up more than 1 million views by this morning (and maybe even from an actual "Love Story" cast member) ... and prompted a lot of replies and re-posts — a selection of which are here.

And there were a lot of RIPs for former neighbor Milon and shout-outs to Sigiri, the Sri Lankan restaurant at 91 First Ave.

Post-Twitter X truly is a cesspool. This is great though.

Always remember you have a legion of admirers over at r/eastvillage who go absolutely bananas for you guys 😁

Went there a decade ago, food was not good, barely enjoyable. A gimmick that place.

I do agree with the hit The International Bar afterwards

Glad they're getting business? Didn't enjoy it when I went ages ago and they were mostly empty, but good for them.

Even if they are mid, seems stupid to begrudge an old-school EV restaurant making some money off the publicity. I realize that people who don't pay their own bills might not grasp the importance of that, though.

I will always bring up Milon and my loyalty to that lovely place. The appetizers will be forever missed. I need to learn how to make them. I had been going there for something like 25 years. It was my family's favorite place to bring people with jetlag who were visiting as a "welcome to new york" haha.

gee I walked 8th St enough to see the Physical Graffiti building, I hope they had some harmless fun. Milon next door once served me coconut soup with a cockroach wing for garnish.

Back in the good old LES daze when I worked for the Pope Of Pot every Friday we would go here and Micky The Pope would get them to close the very good restaurant so we could smoke pot and eat. Sadly , because I am now paralized from the waist down I will no longer be able to visit my beloved hood again

Malai Marke is keeping the faith on East 6th. The piped-in Indian pop music is not as transcendent as the live classical ragas of yore, and the prices aren't 1990s-level, however the food is great!
