In case you want to watch some fireworks tonight

[Outside Elsewhere Espresso on East 6th Street via Derek Berg]

As you probably know, the July 4 (that's today!) fireworks return to the East River ... first time since somebody moved them to the Hudson River in 2009.

Anyway! Here's a roundup of some of the Where-to-watch-the-fireworks roundups:

Brooklyn Vegan

Curbed

Gothamist

DNAinfo

Or, if you'd rather watch from a TV set in a bar, NBC will broadcast the fireworks live beginning at 9 p.m.

And now, enjoy Siouxsie & The Banshees with "Fireworks" from 1982...

Does anyone know if the fields near the East River and 5th st will be open for viewing?

It's funny, because I didn't even know that "south" of the Manhattan Bridge was even still considered the "East River".

They keep saying "Returning" to the East River. This is not a "return". It's in a completely new place from whence it originally came.

The Macy's 4th of July Fireworks were on the East River from 1958-2008, so yes they are returning to the East River where more New Yorkers can see them and they where. they do belong. PS: Yes, the Manhattan Bridge is over the 'East River.

I'll bet that Kita, the Wonder Dog, eats fireworks for breakfast....

...like, bring it on!

Yeah, but it's not returning to where it used to be (i.e. Its original points further up the river)

On separate issue:
Hey Grieve, that's "Elsewhere" Espresso.
Now, maybe if Everyman Espresso and Elsewhere Espresso got married, it might be called Everywhere Espresso; but we'll have to wait and see on that one.
