As we first noted last week, the BP station on Second Avenue at East First Street closed for good after July 6.
Now comes word via The Real Deal that this chunk of space exchanged hands for $32 million.
To The Real Deal:
The seller of the lot is listed in public records as 24 Second Ave. Corp., whose phone number was disconnected. The buyer took out a $39.5 million mortgage on the property, according to records, and is listed under an LLC. Yan Ouaknine, who appears to be the co-founder of development firm AORE Holdings LLC, is listed as the borrower in the mortgage.
What's next here is anyone's guess. Nothing is on file with the DOB just yet. Workers at the stations were heard talking about some kind of boutique hotel coming here.
Previously on EV Grieve:
How much longer will the East Village have gas stations?
The East Village will soon be down to 1 gas station

I should have never added sprkl to 2nd ave
@Paul
It was the 2nd one that really did it!
Nothing blocks out natural light quite like a boutique hotel going up where there was no previous sun blockage. But I bet they'll make up for it with a DJ boothed rooftop woo bar.
They should call it The Eclipse.
Maybe it will be the site of a super dupa cat cafe and coffee shop...
Its kinda hard for me to get upset at some of these property owners for selling- especially families who own one building- when someone offers you 32 million dollars.
I know this is out of the jurisdiction of the EV (since it's the WV), but it's a similar story, just crazier.

2:58, its not quite the same: "this classic Village home wasn’t even in the Village until 1967, when it was moved from York Ave. and 71st St. to avoid demolition at the hands of the Archdiocese of New York".
I wonder how much environmental remediation the site will require? gas station tanks are notoriously leaky. I had a rental last night, it only took me 15 mins to find a space at 10:30 pm - one black from the apt!
32 millions? That's a lot of fuckin bagels!!!
