Friday's parting video clip

Several East Village school children make their way along St. Mark's Place to join thousands of other protesters as part of the Global Climate Strike today.

New York City Public Schools granted its 1.1 million students permission to skip school to join the march, which began at Foley Square and then proceeded to Battery Park.

It's a powerful message to deniers and pols who give lip service to climate change. And for what? the almighty dollar. Just think about East River Park.

Don't worry kids, the city will protect you from climate change by tearing down East River Park. And if that doesn't work, they’ll turn New York into Venice on The Hudson, the tourist Mecca of the world.
