There are more important projects in the park than expanding a dog run. The primary concern of Epstein should be people not animals. Animals take up space that people can't enjoy. So the expansion should not take place. Also our entitled dog owners should be fined for using open space to run their dogs. More important than dogs is the condition of the walkways. The potholes are enormous. If they were on a street they would break car shocks. I've seen too many seniors, parents with baby carriages having trouble just walking into the park. If you support expanding the dog run your priorities are wrong. People first. Safety first, Mr. Epstein.
I do not have a dog, but as a regular park user who traverses the 9th street corridor regularly, I would really love a surface that did not become like a dust bowl of used pet litter blowing around during dry spells. So either a different surface material or elsesome way to spray down the dirt when needed so passersby don't get dusted out? Thanks!
It’s the humans that make the park dirty, not the dogs. This includes the humans that don’t clean up after their dogs. The dogs are not drunk and/or doing drugs in the park. There’s no perfect solution but we live in a filthy environment here in the East Village, with all of the noise and litter and everything else and all of that is human created. The dogs are one of the more peaceful, positive things we have.
It says improve, not expand. I’m in favor of anything that will make dog owners more likely actually to use the dog run, rather than let their pets off-leash in the gardens.
