An EVG reader shared this photo from the other day, showing that someone has closed up the quick-serve space that served smash burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and wings alongside retro video games at 77 Second Ave. between Fourth Street and Fifth Street.
Google also reports this location as "permanently closed."
The chainlet's other NYC outposts remain open.

good riddance!
Didn't even know they were there.
What's the complaint? I just never found a reason to go in.
They were doomed once they started the 6% surcharge for takeout
always had a crowd of doordashers and/or homeless outside
My name is Jonathan. I was one of the night shift workers at 8 bit bites from Monday to Thursday. Looking at the comments, I'd need an elaboration on the top comment saying "good riddance!". It was always a vibe when I had a busy day there. A lot of enjoyable customers whom I would talk about video games in general with. I even had my partner Matt (the white dude with the mustache for those who know him) who helped me get that job, give me the idea to bring my Nintendo Switch in and have people progress in games like Fortnite and Scott Pilgrim vs the World for me.
To the commenter asking "What's the complaint?" There lots of those that were quite reasonable. Some of them did involve homeless routinely camped outside, Mobile Delivery drivers being sent to pick up too early, causing a clog of them waiting for orders. There was also some price rearrangements that took place as result of the current president that forced foods with certain products as well as a mean tax percentage increase. There were occasional mentally unstable people who would walk inside, and I couldn't do much if they were paying customers other than tell them to wait at a table after they kept trying to talk to strangers, but I was QUICK to kick out people not paying. There were also rare occasional of underwhelming quantity of food, and rude staff. I am sorry to everyone who had those experiences as it was more common than not to receive the opposite, but I did notice that some of my co workers were a little selective in how nice they were to people. I won't get into that. Overall, even though I miss making the money I made here, I can't miss this place as it wore me out over the past couple of years and caused me to miss out on a lot. My approved time off requests would still not stop them from making me work during New York Comic Con, New Years Eve, and even my Birthday. Since being relieved of this location, instead of seeking out shifts at one of the other locations, I instead have on a journey to take my life BACK. 8 bit bites has several other open locations that I will be going to as a customer. See yall there!
