Bluestone Lane has closed on Astor Place

The Bluestone Lane outpost in the Death Star at 51 Astor Place has closed.

An EVG reader shared these photos, with one showing an empty storefront.
There isn't any closing notice for patrons on the door of the Australian-inspired coffee shop. However, a Bluestone Lane rep confirmed the closing with EVG.

This Bluestone outpost (the eighth in NYC at the time) opened in April 2016.

We thought they might have seen an uptick in business after Starbucks closed on Astor Place last summer.

Still, many coffee choices are nearby, including two branches of the Bean, Astor Plate, the Madman Espresso airstream trailer outside the Uptown 6 stop, Hidden Grounds around the corner on Third Avenue, Think Coffee on Fourth Avenue, and Irving Farm New York on 10th Street. To name a few in the immediate area.

Bluestone Lane officially opens today at 51 Astor Place; part of profits going to Bowery Mission

And at 51 Astor Place, Bluestone Lane Coffee opens today (a few weeks later than previously announced)...

This is the eighth NYC location for Bluestone, which "is influenced from the renowned coffee culture hub of Melbourne, Australia, where premium coffee is a way of life" per their website.

Also, in honor of Anzac Day, a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, all the locations of Bluestone Lane are giving part of their profits on sales of flat whites (Australia's signature coffee drink) to the Bowery Mission...

Meantime, not sure exactly where the other retail tenant, Flywheel Sports, will live in the building. According to Well + Good, the incoming Flywheel will feature a stadium-seating studio with more than 70 bikes. Plus! "[I]t will be the first to introduce a new, instructor-controlled LED lighting system."

Also, when did someone chop down these trees outside 51 Astor Place?
