Boutiques on Bowery looking more Boutiques on Bowery-like

Boutiques on Bowery at the retail space in 52E4, the 15 stories of condo on the Bowery near Fourth Street, finally looks to be happening. Originally scheduled to open Feb. 1 ... the etched-in-glass signage went up last week...

...giving hope that one day these mannequins will have clothes to wear...

East Village Tagging Committee finally welcomes 52E4 and the neighborhood's first gated driveway

To be honest, there's bit of a backlog. At the gated driveway at the 15 stories of condo on the Bowery near Fourth Street.

What happened to Boutiques on Bowery?

Something called Boutiques on Bowery was scheduled to open Feb. 1 at the retail space in 52E4, the 15 stories of condo on the Bowery near Fourth Street...

And, as Goggla and others have noted, not much is going on in this space...looks awfully empty...

...and the "for rent" signs are gone...

Boutique on Bowery possibly opening today; new lease signs appear at 52E4

Boutiques on Bowery is slated to open today in the retail space in 52E4, the 15 stories of condo on the Bowery near Fourth Street... The BOB Web site confirms that the store opens today... The site also lists the hours from Tuesday through Sunday...meaning they likely wouldn't be open today, Feb. 1, on a Monday....

Anyway! With this opening comes the arrival of new "prime retail space available" signs at 52E4...Perhaps something more permanent is coming here some day?

Boutiques on Bowery replacing the Bowery Bazaar (plus, Brazilian coffee!)

First, there was the Bowery Bazaar in the retail space in 52E4, the 15 stories of condo on the Bowery near Fourth Street...

Perhaps that was only seasonal, given the Feb. 1. debut of Boutiques on Bowery, which sort of seems like the same idea but with a new graphic: A woman in a rather short dress standing in some leaves during a windstorm with a python/cat/scarf wrapped around her neck.

According to the Boutiques on Bowery Web site:

The Boutiques on Bowery are an assembly of 36 hip new designer and artisans displaying women's clothing, dresses, sweaters, mens suites, hats, scarves, vintage and new Jewelry.

B on B will also be home to O-Cafe coffee bar reflecting the very essence of Brazil. O-Cafe will be serving the finest coffees, cappuccino, espresso, macchiato, cortado, teas, pastries and much more.

Just steps from the stylish Bowery Hotel, B on B aims to bring a sense of authenticity back to a part of Manhattan that's been transformed from a central throughway, to a gritty nabe and back again. A community collaboration, B on B is ever seeking new talent.

Never too early to start thinking about the Bowery-side pool parties

While trudging through the slushy, mucky leftovers from the storm of the century/decade/year/weekend on the Bowery, we spied the terrace with spa-pool atop 52E4, seemingly ready for action. No mere snowstorm will knock over these canopies!

The pool parties to come here at the 15 stories of condo will no doubt provide a treasure trove of blog posts some time later in the New Year. For that, we are grateful.

E2E4's private, gated drive gets plowed

Or at least shoveled yesterday morning for those residents who likely don't live here yet.

Perhaps enough room for a toy car.

On Saturday, the 15-stories of condo at East Fourth Street and the Bowery were starting to feel a little homey.

The lights are on, but is anyone home at E2E4?

Just a few weeks ago we noticed that newspapers were being delivered to the gated driveway at E2E4, the 15-story tower of condo on the Bowery...now, as you can, see, some lights have appeared in a few of the units...

Perhaps these are just the units being used for the open houses, so you can get a feel for what the place will be like at night or check out the losers paying $475 a night at the Bowery Hotel.

The gated driveway is lit up as well...

We walked by the other day during open house hours. In five minutes, we saw seven people exit the gated driveway on East Fourth Street...including two men who I usually see hanging out in front of the former Kelley & Ping space around the corner. One of the men leaned toward me and said, with some enthusiasm, "There's only one apartment on each floor!"

And you can watch people while they shower. And vice versa.

According to the Core Group Web site, there are three available units. There are five units in contract... and three -- all priced at $2 million and above -- have "recently sold," including the one to John Legend...

Anyway, hard to believe that it was nearly two years ago when Jeremiah first wrote about what was coming here... and it was back in March 2006 when Curbed started getting some reader-submitted photos of the construction/destruction here.

First signs of life at E2E4: Newspapers in the driveway!

As you can barely see in the top photo, no one is living yet in the 15-story tower of condo on the Bowery...

Regardless, future tenants (Moby? John Legend?) are already having their newspapers delivered to E2E4's gated driveway....

...or maybe this is just a way for newspapers to pad their sluggish circulation figures...

Outside the Bowery Bazaar

At the Bowery Bazaar in the E2E4 building on Bowery between Third Street and Fourth Street.

And has anyone been inside?

Also out front...a light show of sorts above the storefront...

New signs up at the Bowery Bazaar in the E2E4 building on Bowery between Third Street and Fourth Street. "Brought to you by Greed"? Still not sure what this place is trying to be.

What a booth at the Bowery Bazaar will run you

Thanks to the EV Grieve reader for passing along more information about the Bowery Bazaar, which opens Nov. 1 in the E2E4 building on the Bowery between Third Street and Fourth Street.

As the sign out front says, the Bazaar "...welcomes up-and-coming artists, young designers, and enthusiastic collectors to exhibit their goods."

And how much will it cost to exhibit those goods?

Price List

So it's open just on the weekends... as our readers points out, that's 12 times a month .... say you take the 5x7 individual shop for $1,200...that's $100 per day... I'm curious about how many vendors this place will hold... and why didn't some faboo designer type like John Varvatos lease this space?

P.S.
I'm aware security is spelled incorrectly...that's how the Bazaar sent out the information...

Bazaar in retail space of million-dollar condos with gated driveway "aims to bring a sense of authenticity" back to the Bowery

Thanks to the fliers plastered on the windows on the ground floor of E2E4, we now have a little more information about what the Bowery Bazaar is going to be all about between Third Street and Fourth Street...

Well, if you can make out the photos below..."A new bazaar set to open in the heart of Manhattan's oldest thoroughfare: The Bowery."

Hmm. A few other snippets...

"A hip, new indoor market set to open on the Bowery this November 1..."

"The bazaar is already creating a lot of buzz."

"The Bowery Bazaar will merge antiquity with modernity in a wonderful melting pot of trendy design, unique memorabilia, and antique pieces."

"...welcomes up-and-coming artists, young designers, and enthusiastic collectors to exhibit their goods. Just down the block from the Bowery Hotel and Cooper Square Hotel, the bazaar will be open to the public at large."

"The Bowery Bazaar aims to bring a sense of authenticity back to a part of Manhattan that's been transformed from central throughway, to a gritty nab, and back again."
