Did anyone NOT move out this past weekend?

Well, sure seemed like a lot people were coming (but mostly!) going the past few days... seemed like more than the usual end-of-summer exodus... we saw plenty of piles of left-behind crap... like above at East Seventh Street and Avenue C... but this shot by Dave on 7th at East Seventh and Avenue B is the winner so far...

Shrek's unhappy ending

So, let's bring some closure to this Shrek Saga... Yesterday began with so much hope and promise... a cardboard Shrek was for sale along Avenue A...

...and, perhaps, this empty space meant that the Shrek had found a home...

This would not be the case, though. As this photo by EV Grieve reader Jeanne shows, Shrek was thoughtlessly thrown into the trash by an unknown Shrek tosser....

Two Christmas trees in the trash... Avenue C and Fourth Street last night. And we beat last year's record of March 2.

Things that people are throwing away

On 10th Street near Avenue C...

...a Mr. Potato head.

At Doc Hollidays on Avenue A and Ninth Street...

...a Jägermeister machine...

There has to be a connection...

Speaking of Bond and Bowery. On Saturday morning, I came upon the trash leftover from the Fashion's Night Out Bond Street's Mini-Block Party from Thursday...champagne and pony bottles of Colt 45.

Colt 45? Another example of the faux urban realism that makes the privileged Bowery invaders feel more authentic. Just down the street, the men from the Shelter congregated at the now-vacated Kelly and Ping space were sipping 40-ounce bottles of malt liquor from brown paper bags.

When there's no more room in the trash for your trash

Another nice weekend, another sighting of overflowing FroYo cup-topped trash in front of St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery.

Jeremiah has written about this...

...and I don't have anything to add to the discussion...

...but I was curious what people do when they need to discard their trash and there aren't any available trash cans...

Trash treasures

Someone tossed a huge box of magazines out on the curb the other day. On top, the June 2001 issue of GQ featuring Heath Ledger on the cover.

Could have been easy money for someone...the issue is going for a starting price of $14.99 on eBay...
