At the grand opening of El Rinconcito on Avenue C

Photos and reporting by Stacie Joy

El Rinconcito opened Friday in its new home at 73-75 Avenue C between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

The reasonably priced Latin American restaurant closed in the summer of 2021 at its home of 27 years at 408 E. 10th St. between Avenue C and Avenue D. (The building on 10th Street was undergoing a gut renovation.)

And after some Con Ed-related delays, the new space was finally able to open

Owner Pedro Rodriguez and his family said that they were thrilled with the support from the community while waiting to open ...
The staff was happy to be up and running...
... as well as patrons who filled the space for dining in or taking out...
So far, the best-sellers are the (new) fettuccine a la vodka con camarones (shrimp) and Irma's mofongo ...
Hours of operation for now: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week. Closed on Sundays.

If you're on Instagram, you can follow them there. Or the old-fashioned way: (212) 254-1381.

At long last the new location of El Rinconcito is ready to open this Friday

Photo from last fall by Stacie Joy

The owners of El Rinconcito have announced a grand opening for Friday (Nov. 17) in their new home at 73-75 Avenue C.

The family-owned Latin American restaurant has been ready to open for the past year but apparently had Con Ed issues with the building here between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

From an Instagram post this week:
We will be FINALLY opening our doors for business after so many setbacks, but nothing will take us away from serving our community we love in the Lower East Side. It’s official: your favorites will be here on Friday, November 17 ... Huge thank you for all your patience and ongoing support; it gave us the push we needed when times were tough.
El Rinconcito will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The restaurant closed in the summer of 2021 at its home of 27 years at 408 E. 10th St. between Avenue C and Avenue D. (The building on 10th Street was undergoing a gut renovation.)

El Rinconcito has been serving delicious and inexpensive food in the neighborhood since 1994.

El Rinconcito closer to opening on Avenue C

Photos and reporting by Stacie Joy

The new location of El Rinconcito is nearing its grand opening here on Avenue C between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

Owner Pedro Rodriguez gave EVG contributor Stacie Joy a tour of the new space...
... he was especially proud of the ADA-compliant restroom...
This new location is ready to go, and Rodriguez is awaiting certification by the FDNY, followed by ConEd.

Once they receive the approvals, Rodriguez and his team are eager to open their doors to the community. They plan to have all the regular menu items from the old location plus a new selection of vegetarian and gluten-free meals.

El Rinconcito closed in the summer of 2021 at their home of 27 years at 408 E. 10th St. between Avenue C and Avenue D ... with plans to move. (The building on 10th Street was undergoing a gut renovation.)

You can follow the restaurant's Instagram account for updates.

El Rinconcito makes it signage official at new Avenue C home

Signage is up at 73-75 Avenue C for El Rinconcito, the family-owned Latin American restaurant.

As you may recall, El Rinconcito closed last summer at their home of 27 years at 408 E. 10th St. between Avenue C and Avenue D ... ahead of a move to an undisclosed new location.

The restaurant later posted their updated address on social media... but it's now signage official. There is no word yet on an opening date for the space here between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

[Updated] El Rinconcito is on the move

El Rinconcito, the family-owned Latin American restaurant at 408 E. 10th St. between Avenue C and Avenue D, is closing on Friday ahead of a move to a new (undisclosed) location... (thanks to the reader for the pic!)
No word yet on the new space.

And based on a recent Instagram post, we'll have a little while to wait: "Our new location is still in the process of construction ... We hope to open in the coming months."

El Rinconcito has been serving delicious and inexpensive food here since 1994.

Updated... EVG reader Stacie Joy stopped by...
The restaurant is moving to Avenue C near Fifth Street for a year or so while 408 E. 10th St. is being renovated. Sounds as if they will be returning to the building someday.

And as a P.S. — the tree out front here came down at some point this past weekend (reader photo!)...
