Last day for SlimaFest on the Lower East Side

Today is the last day of the weekend-long SlimaFest at the Lower East Side gallery Foreign & Domestic.

The show pays tribute to poet Joseph "Count Slima" Williams, a longtime local resident (and Sophie's regular and former Two Boots staffer). 

Open today from noon to 6 p.m. 

The gallery is at 24 Rutgers St. between Henry and Madison. If you can't make it, check out the PDF here.

If you were in the mood to stop by Sophie's later this afternoon... here's some more incentive. There's an art show featuring the work of longtime EV resident (and Sophie's regular!) Joseph "Count Slima" Williams from 4-6 (his art has also been featured at Max Fish through the years) ...

Slima also worked for the Two Boots family for 30-plus years, starting with helping build the original location at 37 Avenue A in 1987.

These days you can find him kicking some ass on the pool table at Sophie's, 507 E. Fifth St. between Avenue A and Avenue B...

The 2nd Annual SlimaFest is tomorrow night at Max Fish

Max Fish down on Orchard Street plays host tomorrow night (7-9) to the 2nd Annual SlimaFest ... in honor of local legend Joseph "Count Slima" Williams, who worked for the Two Boots family for 30-plus years, starting with helping build the original location at 37 Avenue A in 1987.

Slima, one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, is also an artist... his work will be for sale at Max Fish, where a suggested $10 donation gets you free pizza from Two Boots as well as some live entertainment ... and the chance to see some of his art...



Max Fish is at 120 Orchard St. between Rivington and Delancey.

He has retired from Two Boots ... and now the pizzeria has named a pie in his honor.

Starting today, you can grab a slice of the Count Slima, featuring bacon, andouille meatballs and tasso ham on a thick Sicilian crust...

Even if you don't see Slima playing pool at Sophie's (on Fifth Street between Aveue A and Avenue B), you can still see his artwork that adorns some of the walls there.
