Lions BeerStore closed on the northeast corner of Second Avenue and Sixth Street last month.
Not sure where the BeerStore signage had been stored since the place became Wall 88 ... but it emerged today...

... where it was up for grabs in the trash on the curb...

Lions BeerStore has closed; Wall 88 Restaurant up next
Lions BeerStore has closed on the northeast corner of Second Avenue and Sixth Street.
According to the Lions BeerStore Facebook page, the shop is "closing and moving locations."
Here's more via a Facebook message from yesterday:
Operated by a father-son team who hail from Greece, Lions BeerStore was part retail shop, part restaurant. They opened in November 2015. (Not sure how their lease was up after 16 months in business.)
Meanwhile, not only did Lions BeerStore announce their closure yesterday ... a new restaurant also marked their arrival in the space ... here's Wall 88 Restaurant...
Vinny & O, who shared there photos, hears that the new restaurant (we don't know yet what they will be serving) will be open as soon as today...
As we understand it, the original owners, who want to spend more time in Greece, are partners in the new venture.

"This exciting journey (and lease) have come to an end. We, wholeheartedly THANK YOU for your support, patronage and loyalty as we grew into one of the classiest beer bars in the city. It has been a pleasure to serve new and exotic beers to aficionados and neophytes alike. We hope you had a unique experience each time you came, and that your beer palate is even more distinguished than ever. Stay tuned for information about our new spot."

2 more sidewalk cafe choices for 2nd Avenue
Two Second Avenue restaurants added sidewalk cafes last week... starting with Lions Beer Store on Second Avenue and Sixth Street, which features lamps — and lamp shades! ...
... and San Marzano at Seventh Street...
... which includes a few tables positioned on the Seventh Street side...
These two join Brick Lane Curry House, which debuted its sidewalk cafe on Second Avenue between Fifth Street and Sixth Street on June 15.

A new mural and beer store on 2nd Avenue and East 6th Street
[Photo Friday by Derek Berg]
Billy the Artist started a new mural on the northeast corner of Second Avenue and Sixth Street on Friday...alongside the former Spice space...

A business called Lions BeerStore is in the works here, per the sign on the gate.

The website advertised takes you to a store that "is the brand name for combining high end beers, casual dining and bistro style." There is currently another location in the Greek port city of Thessaloniki.
As we understand it, the store will sell beer to go... as well as offer room inside for draft beers and food. Passersby have reported people out front collecting signatures .. ahead of October's CB3/SLA committee meeting.
And here's the look at the final mural yesterday...

And we hear that two of the panels are already missing since Saturday night...
