Broadway Apothecary coming to the old Milk and Hops spot on Broadway

Signage is up at 779 Broadway for Broadway Apothecary. (Thanks to EVG reader Cecily Millen for the photo and tip!)

Not sure at the moment exactly what Broadway Apothecary will be — a pharmacy in the more traditional sense or maybe like Rose Apothecary, the general store that David and Patrick run on "Schitt$ Creek."

A Milk & Hops outpost closed here last November after three years in business on this bank-branch-drab stretch of Broadway between Ninth Street and 10th Street.

Today is the last day for Milk & Hops Astor Place

After three-plus years at 779 Broadway near Ninth Street, the Milk & Hops outpost is closing after service today.

In a Facebook post, the owners of the beer-cheese shop chalked up the closure to "irreconcilable differences with property management."

And for this last day: "all draft beers will be Buy One, Get One Free until the kegs kick. Additionally, all cans and bottles will be 30% off."

Milk & Hops Chelsea and Milk & Hops Ramen Bar on the Upper East Side will continue in business.

Milk and Hops looks to be opening soon on Broadway

The sign went up Sunday at 779 Broadway near East Ninth Street for Milk and Hops, the incoming cafe/market from the folks behind Astoria Bier & Cheese.

According to the shop's Facebook page: "Milk and Hops is a craft beer bottle shop, gourmet food store and grilled cheese place all in one."

A Craigslist help-wanted ad says "shifts starting as early as February 18th."

Thanks to EVG reader Shell Azar for the photos!

Astoria Bier & Cheese closer to bringing craft beer and grilled cheese to Broadway

Help wanted signs are up on Broadway near East Ninth Street... where a new cafe called Milk and Hops has been in the works since last summer...

We don't know too much about the concept. Paperwork (PDF!) filed ahead of the August 2014 CB3/SLA committee meeting revealed that Milk and Hops would serve grilled cheese sandwiches (among other items) and craft beer. The owners are behind Astoria Bier and Cheese, which has two locations out in Astoria.
