From pudding to macaroni at 102 St. Mark's Place

The coming soon sign is up for the new food shop at 102 St. Mark's Place — New York Macaroni Co.

We didn't spot anything online just yet about New York Macaroni Co.

The previous tenant here between Avenue A and First Avenue, Puddin', never reopened after the city found them operating with an expired food service establishment permit late last November.

Bittersweet: Puddin' NYC won't be reopening after all on St Mark's Place

Back in late November, the City temporarily closed Puddin', the small shop at 102 St. Mark's Place that sells pudding, pudding-filled cakes and frozen Puddin' Pops.

The note on the door between Avenue A and First Avenue explained: "Oh fudge! We forgot some paperwork. Be back soon!"

It turns out that Puddin' won't be back soon after all. Puddin' chef/owner Clio Goodman bid farewell on Facebook yesterday.

To all our loyal patrons, it is with much sadness that we announce we will not be reopening in the near future. We can't thank you all enough for the support over the years; it meant the world to us. It was a great ride indeed.

A Puddin' manager told DNAinfo's Lisha Arino, who first reported on the permanent closure, that the restaurant was shut down "for an administrative issue with our permit, not a food safety issue."

A Health Department spokesperson told DNAinfo that, despite multiple reminders to renew their permit, "the owners were found operating with an expired food service establishment permit." They would be able to reopen once management renewed the permit, the spokesperson said.

Updates on 3 recent quick-serve food closures

Paper went up in the windows at Oaxaca Taqueria in late November. A note on the door pointed to renovations for the taco shop at 125 E. Seventh St. between Avenue A and First Avenue.

More recently, a notice appeared, showing that the owners were behind on rent…

The space has also been on the market.

In late November, the city temporarily closed Puddin', the small shop at 102 St. Mark's Place that sells pudding, pudding-filled cakes and Frozen Puddin' Pops, for lacking some kind of paperwork…

Puddin' remains closed, without any explanation about it on their website or social media properties.

TakeMeHome Rotisserie Chicken opened Nov. 23 at 151 Avenue A between East Ninth Street and East 10th Street. Then during the week of Dec. 8, the quick-service restaurant mysteriously closed without any note/explanation/etc.

But! A help wanted sign recently appeared… and this past weekend we noticed that they were open once again… and now with a phonograph inside…

Puddin' due next week on St. Mark's Place

We've been keepin' an eye on Puddin' ... (See our posts here ... and here.) According to the Puddin' website, the place is the creation of Clio Goodman, who worked at Café Boulud, Bar Boulud and Union Square Café before going into business as a private chef.

And according to a typically annoying writeup yesterday at Urban Daddy, Puddin' opens next week, but the pudding pops don't arrive until the spring.

Puddin' is coming

We pointed out the coming-soon arrival on Puddin' on St. Mark's Place (next to Jane's Sweet Buns) last month...

The place is shaping up with some gold-foil lettering...

Puddin' has a website, where you can read the menu...

And on Twitter...

Are you Puddin' me on?: The latest dessert shop for the East Village

Wow. Last month, we pointed out signage for a new dessert place opening at 102 St. Mark's Place ... next door to Jane's Sweet Buns.

Thanks to EV Grieve reader Allen Semanco for the following photo that provides more detail on the type of dessert...
