Psychic looking a little more permanent

The psychic/clairvoyant/chakra balancer who took up board above Rockin' Robin Raj at 114 Third Ave. now has spiffy new awnings and signs. Maybe they're here to stay? If so, then maybe someone wants to take down that "building available" sign.

Gotta go to Joe's

Joe Jr's shuttered over the weekend. However, you can still enjoy Joe Junior on Third Avenue at 16th Street. I believe both Joe's were once owned by the same family, though the places operated independently.

Posts that I never got around to posting: Last call for Pad Thai

Perhaps many restaurants have a Last Call notice on their to-go menus. I just never noticed it.

Noted

Hmm. Hard to read... it's sponsored by "a very popular very smooth vodka." Spotted at 10th Street and Third Avenue.

Street fair!

On Third Avenue, from St. Mark's to ...?

And the trash is already overflowing as of, oh, say, 10:30 a.m.

Gusher on Third Avenue

A fire hydrant sprung a leak this morning at Third Avenue and 12th Street.

Someone had called 911. Just a matter of waiting and being entertained...

Within, say, 8 minutes, a crew arrived from the Department of Environmental Protection.

The oil screw on top of the hydrant was stripped...

So the crew had to shut off the valve under the street. (I don't really know hydrant-speak...you get the idea.)

And why not?

Tempo's cheeky new ad

Here's the latest ad (seen on Third Avenue near 14th Street) for Tempo, the coming-soon condos at 23rd Street and Second Avenue. I'm curious if the Tempo spa will be co-ed. So, if I decided to buy a place here, then I can expect topless models in the spa? Topless models who'll stand there looking as if they'll drop that towel at the first sign of, say, a sweaty municipal bond trader?

Jack Black ushers in the return of ads to Third Avenue and 12th Street

After a few months of, uh, blankness, an ad has returned to grace the side of the building on Third Avenue near 12th Street...

New public art for Third Avenue and 22nd Street?

EV Grieve reader Empire checks in with these photos. Is this some kind of new public art? Empire notes: "It's parked facing the wrong direction (against traffic, albeit in a proper spot). Then there are stickers on it that say, 'Please, don't take me into a museum' ... and 'Google me, asshole,' which i tried to do, but couldn't make out the letters in the tag."

Something new and different: Street fair!

On Third Avenue, from Fifth Street to 14th Street.

Meanwhile! There's also a street fair on 10th Street between Second Avenue and First Avenue... as part of the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts.

Making another run at the Border

Border Burrito on Third Avenue was closed this entire NYU school year...

In recent weeks workers are busy inside...perhaps to have it ready to go for when the NYUsters return this August...

Meanwhile, is the sidewalk out front between 11th Street and 12th Street getting ready for scaffolding?

REALLY big crane doing something on Third Avenue

So Second Avenue is off limits to traffic with the street fair... Meanwhile, on Third Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets...this humungo crane is lifting something up to the roof at 111 Third Ave. And slowing down traffic. And making everyone look cautiously toward the sky.
