Discarded theater seats and goodbyes at the Sunshine Cinema
There was a lone dumpster outside the just-closed Sunshine Cinema late this afternoon... workers have started discarding some theater seats...
A little later, EVG reader Karen spotted a now-former Sunshine employer putting up "There Goes the Neighborhood" on the marquee...
The message was later changed to Closed...
Workers will demolish the building here on East Houston near Forsyth to make way for a 9-floor office building.

Dumpster of the day
Workers have been clearing out the former Hakata Hot Pot and Sushi Lounge spaces at 58 St. Mark's Place between First Avenue and Second Avenue the past few days (the restaurants did not have their leases renewed) ... so if you're looking for any chairs from Sushi Lounge ... or maybe a Kirin Beer/Zen 6 sign...
...head here before the contents are carted off to a landfill.
As for Hakata Hot Pot, they have merged with sister restaurant Zen 6 at 31 St. Mark's Place one block to the west.

This dumpster load is no longer secure outside 128 Second Ave., where the building is undergoing a gut renovation just south of St. Mark's Place…

Dumpster of the Day (asbestos version!)
Being used here on Second Avenue at the Tisch School for the Arts...
Probably not one that you'll want to go dumpster diving in...
And I hope that it's never converted into a swimming pool...

Dumpster of the day (month? year?)
The ultra, ultra rare porta-potty/dumpster combo. Nice if there's an overflow, but not real practical for everyday use. On Houston near Suffolk. Many thanks to the EV Grieve reader for the photo!
