There's another Avenue B flea on Saturday

Back by popular demand! Local residents and business owners will come together again on Saturday for a neighborhood stoop sale... happening from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Avenue B from 10th Street to 13th Street.

Once again, you can expect to find some handmade jewelry, books, records, vintage clothing, etc. This link has the full list of vendors. (And yes — I ❤️ ANARCHIST JURISDICTION NYC will be selling t-shirts.)

The first Avenue B flea was held on Oct. 10. You can check out Stacie Joy's photos from the afternoon right here.

A look back at Saturday's Avenue B flea

On Saturday afternoon, residents and vendors alike showed up for the Avenue B Flea, featuring sidewalk sales and socially distant acoustic musicians between 10th Street and 14th Street.

It went well enough that a sequel is already in the works.

"It really brought a lot of business down to our friends on Avenue B," said organizer Lisa Lush. "I was told numerous times by locals — this is exactly what the community needs and it’s been a long time since they’ve seen something like it. That old-school EV vibe was back and the energy was electric."

EVG contributor Stacie Joy shared these photos of shoppers and vendors...

St. Brigid is now hosting a flea market on Saturdays

The St. Brigid-St. Emeric parish is now hosting a flea market on the first and third Saturdays of the month (from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)... starting today... This had been in the works for earlier this year, but the start date was pushed back for obvious reasons. The entrance to the (former) St. Brigid schoolyard is on Avenue B between Seventh Street and Eighth Street.

In February 2019, the Archdiocese of New York announced that St. Brigid School would cease operations at the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, a move that blindsided students, parents and faculty alike.

Founded in 1856, the Saint Brigid School was one of seven city Catholic schools marked for closure by the Archdiocese.

To date, the Archdiocese has not stated its plans for the space. Mary Help of Christians hosted a weekend flea market before the property was sold for what became Steiner East Village.

The East Village Community Flea & Market back in action today

A Saturday without rain. Shocker! Which means that the East Village Community Flea & Market returns today to Second Avenue … some details via the EVG inbox…

This Flea Market features several vendors whom you may recognize as veterans of the Flea Market circuit in New York City. For the remainder of October & November, before the typical Holiday hordes descend, you can take the time to try on, ask questions, browse, shop, cruise, and hang out. No chain stores here... Come out & show that DOWNTOWN, New York City can still support local artists, small businesses, and a Flea Market!

The East Village Community Market is located just outside the gates of the St. Mark's Church in the Bowery (and turns the corner, continuing down 11th Street). It takes place every Saturday from 11AM until 7PM.

You can usually expect between 10 and 20 vendors…
