Bleach patrol

Do you know who poured a gallon bleach on this car on Second Street last month? If so, $500 may be yours...

On Avenue B, Zaitzeff is reaching out to neighbors about its new liquor license

Not sure what else to say about this flier from the burger joint other than what's on the sign..

...and that it seems like a thoughtful thing to do. For instance, I can think of a few bar managers/owners who promised to meet with concerned neighbors after opening... Flashing back now to August...

One of the organizers said that Superdive has agreed to a meeting with neighbors, and that CB3 and 9th Precinct officials may attend as well. No date was mentioned.

Miguel, call Lilly with the partially shaved kitty!

Have you seen all those "Desperately seeking Miguel" fliers on Second Avenue? The person here met Miguel at Lit, and he lives on Second Avenue and Sixth Street...

I hesitate to even post something like this...given it's likely a viral markerting scheme for an HBO show or some urban art project... Still! I looked up the number convenitently listed on dozens of fliers on public sidewalks ... and it took me to this Web site (NSFW). This number brought me to Lilly on My Red Book, a place for "Escort, Massage, and Strip Club Reviews."

Funny what you can learn about someone on the Internet... Such as she has a "partially shaved kitty."

Anyway, Miguel! Call her!

Archiving a collection of LES protest fliers

Missed this piece in the Times yesterday about Time's Up! founder Bill DiPaola. His collection of fliers and artwork from nearly two decade's worth of Lower East Side protests is becoming part of an archive at NYU.

Looking for delivery bikes outside the Moonstruck Diner

On Friday, some fliers appeared calling for a boycott of the Moonstruck Diner on Second Avenue and Fifth Street...

According to the signs, a blind man cut his hand on one of the diner's "7-9 commercial bikes that are always blocking the East 5th Street sidewalk." And the Moonstruck Diner "refuses to move those obstacles."

I walked by the Moonstruck several times over the weekend to see how many bikes were around... or if the owners responded...

Here's what I saw...an abandoned ATM...and a few bikes...not 7-9, though, at least when I was around.

And there weren't any bikes around Saturday morning.

Neighbors call for a boycott of the Moonstruck Diner

At Fifth Street and Second Avenue. If you can make out the sign, a blind man cut his hand on one of the diner's "7-9 commercial bikes that are always blocking the East 5th Street sidewalk." And the Moonstruck Diner "refuses to move those obstacles."

So until they remove the bikes, the organizers are asking you to eat elsewhere. How about the Odessa?

School of Rock

Found these up around 15th Street near Third Avenue. I'll teach these punks what it means to shred...

A missing son

Given the number of lame viral marketing attempts involving missing people, we can't help but be cynical about fliers we see in the neighborhood...these fliers went up this weekend... (A friend told me he says these in several other parts of the city....)

After doing a little research, this seems to be a genuine missing person. Here's an article on the man from the Pocono Record.

Tree used for missing persons flier now missing

For several weeks now, there has been a "missing persons" flier attached to the tree right on Avenue A at Ninth Street. I don't recall all the details — a young man had not been seen for some time. Very sad.

Walking along A the other day, I saw that the tree with the missing persons flier was now missing too.

Lost cats

It has been pointed out over at New York Shitty that it seems to be the season for lost cats...Indeed, I've lost track of how many lost cat fliers I've seen of late...here are three that I took pictures of this past week...
