Today in ads for Zipcar on Astor Place

A reader shared the above photo from Astor Place this morning... showing a car under what's meant to be a mound of snow (remember when it used to snow here in the winter?)

Here's a closer look at what turns out to be an ad for Zipcar... here are photos via EVG Zipcar Ad Correspondent Steven ... showing some details on the snowbank...

Noticeably missing — a design by one of the many Penistrators ...

A moment or 2 with Bingo Bronson

Fans of Comedy Central's "Broad City" might appreciate this sighting yesterday of Bingo Bronson (Abbi's blue stuffed animal who comes to life) on Second Avenue at St. Mark's Place... part of a promo for "Broad City" merchandise.

Plus, bonus Bingo butt shot...

Not sure if Bingo made it to Whole Foods.

How you can score free pizza AND rodent repellent tomorrow at the 1st Avenue L stop

Via the EVG inbox®…

WHAT: New Yorker's are used to seeing rodents in the subway but commuters may see a few that are too big to ignore on their commute to work tomorrow morning.

WHO: The event is being sponsored by earthkind®, a North Dakota-based pest prevention company and the makers of the award-winning Stay Away® Rodent repellent that’s proven to keep rodents out of indoor areas, safely and naturally.

WHERE: Giant mice will be greeting commuters at the E. 86th Street and W. 72nd Street subway stations before heading down to Pizza Rat’s home base at the First Avenue L station for an authentic NYC lunch of, you guessed it, pizza! Free samples of Stay Away Rodent® will be given to the first 5000 riders who greet the mice and give them a warm, NYC welcome!

WHEN: Thursday, November 12th from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm

WHY: The earthkind® mice are on a mission to teach New Yorkers how to keep “pizza rat” and other uninvited guests [ED NOTE: Family members?] out of NYC hi-rises, brownstones and homes without using poisons.

From St. Mark's Place to 'Moonbeam City'

EVG TV Show Mural correspondent Steven has been watching the progress along the wall outside Footgear Plus on First Avenue at St. Mark's Place... where work started on an ad for the new Comedy Central animated series "Moonbeam City," a sendup of 1980s cop shows, back on Wednesday (above)...

... and here's a look at the final product... an ode to the art-deco stylings of Patrick Nagel...

And at least someone finally replaced this ad.

Long-vacant Bowery retail space resorts to scotch ads; Claire Forlani's giant billboard hand terrorizes me

On the Bowery and Bond, the Washington Mutual closed in the corner space back in March 2009. And it has remained empty.

While the space awaits a new tenant, it's now being used to sell some Dewar's...

As AdWeek noted of the tagline, The Drinking Man's Scotch Preferred by English Women with Scottish accents.

And these ads, featuring actress Claire Forlani, give me the creeps. Rather, that GIANT HAND on the billboard on Lafayette and Great Jones gives me the creeps. It's like some B-movie severed hand prop.

But as creepy as Harrison Ford's head...?

Michael White now hiring at Nicoletta

Yesterday, we took a look at the incoming Michael White pizzeria on Second Avenue at 10th Street ...

Anyway, a reader sent us a link to a Craigslist ad ... apparently, if you're interested, they're hiring front-of-the-house positions... Per Craigslist: "Focused on pizza and Italian cuisine, we are seeking staff to share in our love of food, passion for service, and desire to develop a new brand offering the highest levels of quality, hospitality and professionalism."

Bonus ad except for host/hostess: "Able to multitask while remaining calm and hospitable."

Ad spotted on First Avenue for restaurant/bar/lounge Sons of Essex down on Essex Street...

Rejected headlines:
• Choke your chicken at Sons of Essex
• The Waffle and Cock Show
• And now, a photo of an ad showing a woman suggestively biting a waffle and clutching poultry between her legs while squatting

There are pieces of Kate Moss all over the East Village

You've seen those Kate Moss ads for Supreme seemingly everywhere the last few days...

We've seen people try to pull these things off the plywood for souvenirs...

...and workers charged with keeping the construction sites ad-free...

... as a result, there are bit and pieces of the ads on a lot of sidewalks this morning...
