Your very own Oh Sees concert

In lieu of any live shows in the foreseeable future... here's a recently (March 21!) released video of Oh Sees rehearsing their new record (not sure which one, given that they release about eight LPs a year!).

Enjoy all 56 minutes. Depending where we are in the world, Oh Sees are currently scheduled to play Webster Hall in September.

Habibi, the Brooklyn-based garage-rock band, has a new LP out titled Anywhere But Here. The video here is for "Angel Eyes."

'Onely' you

The Brooklyn-based Lightning Bug (aka Audrey Kang) have released a new song called "The Onely Ones," as seen in the above video.

In other Lightning Bug news, the band's second record will get a vinyl release next month via Fat Possum.

The 'Price' is right

The Brooklyn-based band Store Front has a new EP out now... the video above is for the debut single, "Rip the Price Off."

To here knows when

NYC's Peel Dream Magazine has a new record, Agitprop Alterna, due out on April 3 via Slumberland. The video here is for Pill. RIYL: My Bloody Valentine, (early) Stereolab and Rocketship.

A 'Red' letter day

NYC's own Pom Pom Squad dropped a timely new single yesterday for "Red With Love." There's a video too ⬆️

'Prism' break

San Francisco's synth-pop group Cold Beat is back with a new LP (titled Mother) coming out on Feb. 28. The video here is for the record's second single, "Prism."

Won't You Be My Neighbour?

The Dutch quartet Neighbours Burning Neighbours just released two new songs, which are well worth seeking out (if you like the screech of, say, Sonic Youth and early Siouxsie and the Banshees).

The video here is for a 2019 single called "Hesitate."

'Sweet' talk

Porridge Radio's new record, Every Bad, is out in March. The video here, released last week, is for "Sweet." The buzzy Brighton, U.K.-based quartet will be out at Elsewhere in Brooklyn on March 23.

Cable ready

Melbourne, Australia's Cable Ties have a new record coming out in March on Merge. The video here was released this week for "Sandcastles."

Heroes

David Bowie died on this day in 2016. The video here is a live version of "Life on Mars?" — one of my all-time favorite songs.

Into the 'Void'

There Is No Year, the new record from the Atlanta-based Algiers, is out on Jan. 17. The video here is for the track "Void."

'Lucky' strike

In "Lucky," Dehd delivered one of the catchier indie pop songs of 2019 ... the track is on the Chicago-based trio's excellent LP Water, which was out back in May.

Not for 'Nothing'

A reconfigured Rocketship returned with its first record in 13 years with Thanks to You, an under-the-radar release from this fall. The dream-pop track here is for "Nothing Deep Inside."

Just another day at the 'Office'

The Philadelphia-based trio Control Top's debut release showed up on a few year-end best-of lists — such as at Pitchfork. The video here is for the song "Office Rage."

'Radio' cure

The Shivas (via Portland, Ore.) released their latest album Dark Thoughts earlier this fall... the video here is for the single "Playing on the Radio."

'Hide' and Seek

Some new shoegaze courtesy of Deserta, the latest project from Matthew Doty. The debut release from Deserta is out in early 2020. The audio track here for "Hide" came out last week.

My friend Edgar

The NYC-based Lunachicks are playing their first shows in 15 years — April 11-12 at Webster Hall on 11th Street. (Tickets went on sale today. That first show is already sold out.)

The band — led by Theo Kogan — formed in 1988, recording six albums between 1990 and 1999. The video here is for "Edgar" from their 1995 release "Jerk of All Trades."
