ICYMI... A woman driving a Porsche Cayenne wedged the car on the bike path adjacent to the Con Ed Power Plant at 15th Street early yesterday morning.

According to the Post, the wayward driver — "a woman who appeared to be in her 20s" — fled the scene. (The car has Pennsylvania inspection tags.)

It wasn’t immediately known how the driver ended up on the bike path ... or whether the Porsche was stolen.

Anyway! The DOT said that they were aware of the wonky bike path outline ... and, as NBC 4 reports, the DOT fixed painted over the errant line yesterday.

An East Village couple awoke yesterday morning to reportedly find a drunken man peeing in their bathroom sink.

To the New York Post!

It turned out the man was staying in another apartment in the building at First Avenue and East 13th Street. He was too inebriated to find the right apartment when he got home.

The couple whose apartment the man invaded called 911. But after cops showed up, they thought better of pressing charges.

The Post referred to the sink pee-er as "the drunken hipster."

EV Grieve Rita spotted this in front of the East Village Prescription Center on Avenue A this afternoon. At 99 cents, a pretty good deal, really.

New East Village Brewery hopes to win you over with a stolen menu

On Monday, we reported that something called the East Village Brewery and Beer Shop hopes to take over the space at 14 Avenue B. We even ran photos of the menu the budding brewers taped to the front door.

Well! As several readers noted in the comments, the menu was exactly the same as two-star Brooklyn restaurant Prime Meats.

Indeed, Eater did the detective work today, and put the menus in a side-by-side comparison.

Exact matches.

The brewmasters were on Monday night's CB3/SLA agenda, but the committee postponed the vote because "the secret investors were not present, they couldn't identify where they were going to get the stuff to build the brewery and they had no brewmaster."

Plus, they don't have a menu, apparently.

Off to a fine start!

Over at the future home of the Union Square Hyatt on Fourth Avenue at 13th Street, workers have unveiled one of the hotel's lesser-touted amenities... fresh air for the rooms!

Open windows will come in handy for dumping water on any noisy guests enjoying those private terraces on the second floor...

So it has been nearly a year since we've mentioned the stalled/unstalled/too tall/view-blocking hotel project coming to Fourth Avenue and 13th Street... on Dec. 17, Curbed pointed out that this space will be home to a Hyatt hotel... which will look something like this:



Per the Hyatt news release issued last fall:

The other Hyatt-branded property announced today, slated to open Fall 2011, will be located at 13th Street and 4th Avenue, a block off Union Square, and near Washington Square Park. The area is extremely popular with residents and tourists alike, and is an activity hub for major hospitals, universities and retail centers. The hotel will offer stunning accommodations to its guests, including private terraces on the second floor, a well-appointed fitness center and an exclusive rooftop lounge. The historic façade and 23 foot ceilings in the lobby will create a grand space for the stylish lounge opening up to 13th Street and a restaurant concept inspired by the local and organic Greenmarket.

Uh-huh! Based on the stop-start work here the last, oh, 18 months, a fall 2011 opening seems awfully ambitious... But! I walked by the site over the weekend and noticed, uh, noticeable progress...

Is the McSam hotel getting taller on Fourth Avenue?

Real-estate blogger Andrew Fine has been keeping a watchful eye on the McSam hotel seemingly stalled at Fourth Avenue and 13th Street... (It's the 11-story, 162-unit hotel brought to you and me by Sam Chang.) When I walked by the other day, I noticed something that I couldn't recall seeing before on the roof....





What is that, exactly? An observation tower to see if anyone from the DOB is coming for an inspection -- given the complaints from neighbors about the hotel being too tall? .... Despite the partial stop-work order, someone called the DOB four times in January saying that work continues....

East Fifth Street suddenly has new views

A new listing popped up Trulia (via HotPads) the other day for a $1 million condo on East Fifth Street in the 10009 zip .... complete with a Google street view of Fifth Street and Avenue A.

And the photos that accompanied the listing looked like this...



... with hotties in the pool and steam room!



Obviously a mistake giving the description is for something swank in Long Island City. Or maybe that last bender at Sophie's lasted a little longer than I remembered.

Foreigner affairs

I recently had an event in my life — the kind in which people may give you birthday presents. [Pause for applause] A family member with the best of intentions asked me for a few suggestions — a book, DVD, CD. That kind of thing. So I came up with a short list. On that list: Amos Poe's "The Foreigner," complete with some great shots of the EV via 1978. (Alex recently wrote about this film...) And on this glorious day, I opened the package. And....

There is a stop-work order on the site.

Interesting. One complaint: "CALLER FEELS THAT THE BUILDING MAY BE EXCEEDING THE HEIGHT THAT HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE BUILDINGS DEPARTMENT,APPEARS THEY MAY BE 2-3 STORIES OF ELEVATOR TOWERS."

In fact, one of the open complaints notes the the "new building construction is exciding (sic) the level limits permitted and is a violation of the zoning regulations."

Well, OK. Now what?

I apologize if I'm missing something obvious, but why does it say that the speech was authored by "Barack H. Hussein"? I'm relatively sure the word "Obama" should be in there somewhere.
