How can I really be expected to post today when the Storm of Feb. 8™ is on the way?

[From December 2010]

And shouldn't we all be out buying bread and stuff? Or is it too late?

Sad saga of Nino's Pizza 2.0 comes to an end

Yesterday morning, we noted that the new Nino's Pizza on St. Mark's Place and Avenue A had been closed (again) of late... this after extensive renovations...

And just like that ... Later yesterday, workers cleaned out the space...

...and a For Rent sign went up.

I miss the old Nino's. I liked their pizza and corny year-round Christmas decorations and fountain drinks. And it was one of my favorite spots for sitting and staring out the window, watching the East Village go by...

We didn't spot the listing online just yet...

-----

Also. After a really, really long time, workers finally removed the sidewalk bridge here...

Silent Pro 7-Eleven collective launches shock-and-awe counter-offensive

Oh, wait.

Bwahahaha. Nice!

In the words of the immortal Torrance Shipman: "Oh, I'll bring it. Don't worry."

Updated:
To be clear, I had nothing to do with this. Just someone's idea of a gag.

The Hetal Convenience Store is now... 1 Eleven

[December]

The Hetal Convenience Store on First Avenue just south of East Seventh Street closed back in December... workers remodeled the storefront... and it recently reopened... then a new awning arrived the other day...

1 Eleven?! Kinda sounds like the name of some other convenience store, of course. The name is a play off its address, 111 First Ave.

7A reopens this morning

7A closed the last week of January to upgrade some electrical equipment and put in a new sprinkler system... the cafe on Avenue A and Seventh Street was supposed to reopen Feb. 1... but all the work took longer than expected to complete... signs now point to a reopening this morning at 10...

And we'll see if management kept its promise of not painting fingers on the back walls again...

Winter Friday flashback: The Hells Angels unveil new line of defense for their bench

On Fridays this winter, and probably spring and summer ... we'll post one of the 16,000-plus EVG, uh, posts from yesteryear, like this one from Feb. 7, 2011...

-----

Back in June 2009 we pointed out the sign on the bench outside the Hells Angels headquarters on Third Street ...

This was an effort to thwart clueless hotel guests from the Sanctuary Guest Suites next door for plopping down here ... However, this reporter still saw European thrillseekers taking a seat here...

So now! It's a little more difficult...

Previously on EV Grieve:
The Hells Angels kindly request that hotel guests please refrain from sitting on their bench

-----

Postscript:

The City made the Hells Angels remove the bar a few weeks later.
