This isn't new - just something that a certain denizen of the East Village hasn't walked past before. The really sad thing is that Custo appears to have abandoned the retail space in this building (they own the building), most likely in response to the downturn in the economy. The space has been vacant for more than a year - the Custo signage has been up since last April, but there's been no sign of life since then. This sort of "character-building" in neighborhoods isn't going to help any of us who live in, and love, this city. I would happily take a bank over blight.

We love tips
Have a story idea or tip about something happening in the East Village? Or maybe a photo? Or several photos? Or video! We'd love to hear about it. Or see it. Or something. Please go here to submit a tip.
By the way
Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.
