How much to rent the Long Bay (who?) space on East Sixth Street?

[EVG photo from August]

After just five weeks in business, Long Bay, the reasonably priced Vietnamese restaurant, shut its doors last spring at 503 E. Sixth St. just east of Avenue A. Homemade for rent signs arrived later in the summer... and the space remains on the market.

We just noticed the listing pop up at the real-estate firm of Voda Bauer. Here's the listing:

Nestled in the heart of the East Village off Avenue A, this space is near near restaurants, bars, retail stores and Residential buildings. New construction around the corner will provide a captive audience to any business! Full basement included with a second bathroom. Handicap Bathroom in place on the ground floor and outdoor space available upon request.

The asking rent: $7,000. (There's 1,600 square feet of space.)

And a bonus photo of the interior...

Place looks as if it has been empty a longer than just seven months.

5-week old restaurant space now on the market

After just five weeks in business, Long Bay, the reasonably priced Vietnamese restaurant, shut its doors at 503 E. Sixth St. just east of Avenue A.

We heard that there was some disagreement among the owners ... that it was possible the place would reopen.

Apparently that isn't happening now that the "for sale" signs arrived in the front windows last Friday ... Not clear if the business is for sale or the space is for rent — or both!

5 weeks in, Long Bay closes for now

After a promising start, Long Bay, the reasonably priced Vietnamese restaurant that opened March 12 at 503 E. Sixth St. just east of Avenue A, has closed.

Long Bay has been dark all this week. Bill the Libertarian Anarchist spoke with a manager, who said that they might be closed permanently — one of the owners wants to sell his piece to the other … and apparently there's some kind of disagreement.

Have you tried Long Bay yet?

Long Bay opened on March 12 at 503 E. Sixth St. just east of Avenue A (the building behind Sidewalk).

We looked inside the Vietnamese restaurant right after they opened last month... the karaoke setup seems to be the centerpiece of the space... (we were treated to two songs by Air Supply). The hostess said that the owners will also, on occasion, play along on guitar.

The place was still in soft-open mode at the time of our visit ... they were cash only... and they didn't have their menus printed up yet and weren't offering delivery.

Long Bay is run by the folks who had the second iteration of Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches on East Second Street. (They closed back in February.)

As for the food, we've heard good things about their pork chop sandwiches ... and the Yelp reviewers have been mostly kind.

Here's a look at some menu items... from when the menu was taped to the front window...

Gladiators Gym was the last retail tenant here a seemingly long time ago...
