San Loco opened yesterday at their new East Village location — 111 Avenue C between Seventh Street and Eighth Street.
EVG contributor Stacie Joy stopped by and shared this photo of the owners — Jill and Kimo Hing with son Dietrich. (Not pictured: the Hing's other son, Calvin, who was at home.)
San Loco's East Village presence dates to 1986. Our previous
post has more background.

What a gorgeous family!
I for one am excited for this opening. I live across the street on C and 7th. It's nice to have a shop like this after a long day at work when one doesn't feel like cooking. Considering how many bars exist on this street, I always felt there should be more food options given how popular our area is, especially during the weekends. Their food is delicious and the space looks fab. Welcome to the neighborhood.
Also excited! Affordable eateries like this have been on the wane for so long. Let's hope this starts a trend.
Very happy making indeed! Welcome back! xo, jg
Wow, so nice to see this place coming back. I never realized the place was brand new in 1986 when me and my friends first started going there when we were in high school. We loved the food and we loved the fact that they would serve us beers even though we were only 15!
