An EVG reader reviewed a favorite item from the Slopey Joe's truck stationed this summer on 14th Street just east of Avenue A.
"I love a good sloppy Joe sandwich — it was my favorite school lunch meal. But you rarely see them on menus," said Julie Manis, who shared the above photo. "And this is far and away the best I've ever had. Sauce with just a slight kick. A slice of melty cheese. Kind of a barbecue flavor. They make other things, too, but why have anything else when you can get a sloppy Joe?"

I've been wanting to try these guys out, thanks for sharing! I just need to remember to swing by during lunch time when I'm working from home...
First of all, thank you reader Julie Manis for the tip! Based on your tip, I tried the Sloppy Joe from the Slopey Joe food truck just now, and thought it was great! My only previous experience with Sloppy Joes had been with the Sloppy Joe with Beef that came in a can, and I was not impressed. But I always thought one should be able to make a great tasting Sloppy Joe at home completely from scratch, and I think Slopey Joe's homemade Sloppy Joe proves that. I'm going to get it again as long as the Slopey Joe truck is still operating there on East 14th St.
Looks delicious, but a bit overpriced for a sloppy joe alone...
