As we noted last week, there looks to be activity in the retail space at the Copper Building on Avenue B at 13th Street.
Brian Meier, senior vice president at Prudential Douglas Elliman, said via email that the space was sold to an investor, who has a contract out on the storefront. No word just yet on who the new tenant will be...
In any event, you can likely rule out a Subway sandwich shop here.

Copper Building looks to have a retail tenant now; big penthouse also in contract
Over at the Copper Building, the "condo for sale" signs are down...
We sent a note to the folks at Prudential Douglas Elliman about the space.
Meanwhile, I suppose that we can speculate. I'm guessing the space will either be a zine store specializing in unpublished writers or an egg shop.
Oh, and meanwhile! It looks like the last remaining unit here is under contract. And it's the big one, weighing in at $3.85 million.
Eh, looks nice enough. Would be a lot cooler with a stainless-steel slide.

This is the last unit left at the Copper Building, where you can already see the Freedom Tower
That's right... the Copper Building at Avenue B and 13th Street is now all filled with residents — aka, Coppertoners.
There's one apartment left — the one-bedroom loft penthouse with views of the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower... and, apparently, the Freedom Tower...
Per the listing at Prudential Douglas Elliman:
See for yourself during the opening house Sunday from noon to 1:30... And the folks were good enough to trim $100,000 (6.7 percent) off the price yesterday ... it's now going for $1.4 million. (According to StreetEasy, $1,65 million was the original asking price...)

At the Copper Building, your luxury East Village penthouse awaits you — still
The Copper Building is nearly all sold out... only two units remain on the market, according to StreetEasy, including the pièce de résistance — the penthouse. The unit hit the market at $1.65 million, and recently the Coppertoners knocked 9 percent off to bring it down to a more manageable $1.5 million.
As the listing subtly points out:
In case you can't make it by for the open house on Sunday afternoon (2-4:30), then check out some of the scenery via the PH pics...

Your first Copper Building update in the last two months
We are, of course, contractually obligated to check in on Avenue B's Copper Building every two months... But seriously, it has actually been two months since our last post on Ol' Rusty. And we were just plain wrong at the time to think that the building was all sold out... A quick look at StreetEasy shows there are nine active listings (and nine in contract)... with an open house Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
And there seems to be a model home now to show...
And the other day, we stood and watched with some neighbors all the work being done on the patio spaces... Nothing really sinister happening...
...though someone expressed concerned that one of the workers may easily take a tumble...

Is the Copper Building all sold out?
Haven't paid much attention to the Copper Building (ol' Rusty!) on Avenue B and 13th Street since we were, uh, duped by some phonie interior photos in December... I thought about the Big Copper yesterday after seeing it all gleamy in the distance.
So I went to see how many units were still on the market...and after searching, I couldn't find any active listings......there appear to be eight units in contract right now...
Oh, meanwhile, there are some X's on the windows! Something possibly X-Files related about this?

(Updated) The Copper Building residences are looking rather...drab
Two listings popped up for the Copper Building on the Manhattan Management Group Web site. (And I'm assuming that it's the Copper Building on 13th Street and Avenue B: While no address is listed, how many other new condos in this neighborhood have a zen garden, a virtual doorman and are offering to cover common charges and taxes for the first two years?)
Anyway, some of the Copp's early renderings did look awfully nice and luxurious, such as:
And now check out the photos via the listing for the 850-square-foot one bedroom (on the fifth floor, and going for $790,000):
It looks pretty dull and drab. What's with the single lightbulb hanging in the kitchen? And what's with the tinted plastic covering half the windows? (Is this to frustrate the potential peepers?)
Anyway, according to Streeteasy, there are 10 active listings...and eight listings in contract.
Updated:
Apparently the photos above are phonies.... per the comments at Curbed...
As Curbed noted, the photos have already been pulled from the Manhattan Management Group site.

Hi Curbedsters and friends. These are not photos of the project. What this is, is a small RE sales company using our name and photos of a different project to obtain client via their website. I would be happy to bring anybody into the project at anytime to see the work that is being done. Please know that these photos are not of our property "The Copper Building" just a scam to trick buyers. Call me at anytime 212-321-7113 my Name is Brian Meier www.Bkmeier.com and I have been working on the building for two years now. I would be happy to give you all a personal tour of the property you will see that we look nothing like the photos presented

Copper Building penthouse will now cost you an extra quarter-of-a-million dollars
When everything seems to be going down in price... As the listing shows, the penthouse at the Copper Building at 215 Avenue B is now $3,850,000 -- up $250,000 from its previous price.
Here's what you get:
You can see for yourself during the open house Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. If you can't make it, here are some renderings...
And, as this rendering shows of 215 Avenue B, BIG changes may be coming to the north end of the block...what, exactly, are those two new mystery buildings to the left of the Copp? Curbed also made note of this earlier, wondering why Stuy Town was replaced "with, uh, an office tower parachuted in from downtown Dallas."

The ghost in you: Looking at 215 Ave. B
I continue to keep tabs on 215 Ave. B at 13th Street. I stop by and take photos every few weeks. This is how it looked Sunday afternoon.
Curbed has the details on the Copper Building, home once to the Roberto Clemente Center community clinic and, before that, a grocery store.
When I was taking these shots a month or so ago, this couple walked up behind me. The man, hipstery in his late 20s, says in my direction, "Who in the fuck would want to live there?" As if maybe I was taking photos as a potential buyer! Hey get your own blog!
No information just yet one how much one of the 17 units will cost (from studios to two bedrooms). But you will have prime views of the the Housing Authority's Campos Plaza just a few hundred feet due east...
Here's how it looked last Sept. 7.
