At Fucking Awesome with Chloë Sevigny

Photos and reporting by Stacie Joy

Early Thursday evening, fans turned up on Ninth Street outside Fucking Awesome upon the release of a new collection designed by Chloë Sevigny...
Among the new merch for the skateboard company and streetwear brand is an updated version of the Chloë Sevigny Class Photo Board, which features the award-winning actress and director's high school yearbook photo ...
Sevigny was in the shop for several hours ...
... signing a variety of items, including from the new product line to personal things that people brought with them (including a Harmony Korine book)... and posing for photos with some starstruck fans.

Several people asked her for clothing/footwear recommendations — not from the FA collection, just general style questions... and she thoughtfully offered her opinions...
And people waited patiently outside in some pretty steamy weather conditions...
FA opened here between Avenue A and First Avenue in the fall of 2021... in our visits since then, we've always found the staff friendly and attentive...

'Kids' today: 20th anniversary T-shirt and skateboards

"Kids" turns 20 this July ... and ahead of the reunion festivities next month at BAM ... Supreme has released a special edition series of skateboard decks and shirts for the film that introduced us to Chloë Sevigny and Rosario Dawson...

Dangerous Minds today published the news release from Supreme about the items:

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Larry Clark’s debut film, KIDS, the portrayal of NYC youth’s escapades in the early 90’s. Some were offended by the raw and anarchic world Larry Clark documented, for those that weren’t, the film became an important document of the time, place and culture.

Through photographing skaters in NYC, Larry Clark came to meet the film’s writer, Harmony Korine and star, Leo Fitzpatrick. The rest of the cast was pieced together with a variety of downtown New York characters including original Supreme team riders Justin Pierce and Harold Hunter. It is a testament to KIDS cultural impact that it resonates today just as much as it did in 1995.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary, Supreme is proud to release a collection of items featuring stills from the iconic film KIDS. The Collection will consist of a Hooded Sweatshirt, Long Sleeved T-Shirt, two graphic T-Shirts, and three Skateboards.

Here's a look at the stuff available to buy starting tomorrow ...

... and to round out your Business Casual wardrobe this summer...

"Kids" was filmed, in part, around the East Village... and it opened at the Angelika on July 21, 1995...

Chloë Sevigny on the East Village today: 'It’s like a frat house everywhere'

Former East Village resident Chloë Sevigny on the neighborhood today in The Daily Beast:

"Walking around the East Village, I just want to cry at the state of it. There are so many fuckin’ jocks everywhere! It’s like a frat house everywhere. I don’t know if it’s a sign of the times, but where are the real weirdos? The real outcasts? They’re a vanishing breed here. Maybe New York isn’t drawing that anymore because it’s too expensive."

Chloë Sevigny's East Village home is for sale

Last Thursday, we posted photos of that lovely home at 119 E. 10th St. that was new to the market. A commenter said that this was Chloë Sevigny's apartment.

Given how many times that we've seen her home in various publications, you'd think that we'd have recognized it. The folks at maison21 put it all together, matching up the photos from a 2007 House & Garden spread with pictures from the listing.

From the listing...

... and the House & Garden...

Yep, it's the same place. And it's current asking price is $1.7 million. (And if you're into this kind of thing, Parker Posey also lived in the same building...)

Anyway, Sevigny told this to New York magazine last month.

As for her home, she’s thinking about moving to a high-rise again; she wants more light and is tiring of co-op rules. “I’m looking,” she says. “Maybe I won’t find the right thing and I’ll just stay here. Or maybe I’ll fall in love and get married and move somewhere else entirely. You never know!”

Chloë Sevigny shows off her closet, again

We last saw East Village resident Chloe Sevigny's closet in a Times article back on July 1...

Now, in this video from Opening Ceremony that is making the rounds, we get to take a more comprehensive look. Hey, are those the bunny ears from "Gummo"?
