Last call for the Edge, and the return of an old friend
As we first reported last month, The Edge, the 29-year-old bar at 95 E. Third St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue, is closing for good ... the bar did receive a one-month reprieve ... and those extra few weeks have come to an end: Last call for The Edge is tomorrow (Saturday) night.
"We'll just say [the landlord, Thermald Realty Associates] found an opportunity to sue us for a bunch of money that we can't pay," a bar rep told us last month.
Meanwhile, an EVG reader noted the return of a familiar vehicle on the block this week...
This appears to be one of an RVs owned by now-former EV resident Ron Britt... whose RV empire once consisted of Old Flat Top and the Free Willie Nelson.
The above RV was first spotted here back in the fall.

Old Flat Top apparently has a new friend
[EVG photo from August 2011]
There was a time when you would see Old Flat Top (rear) with its friend the Free Willie Nelson (front) around the neighborhood, mostly on East Third Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue near where owner Ron Britt lived. Until the Free Willie Nelson — a 1973 Dodge Mahal Travco — caught on fire on East Sixth Street back in September 2011. And we never saw the Free Willie Nelson again...
Old Flat Top remained around... and now, as EVG regular Salim notes, OFT looks to have a new friend... spotted earlier on East Third Street...

At this point we don't know if the second RV is a new resident or just visiting...

The Free Willie Nelson on the road again
Special Ed sends along this photo last evening of the Free Willie Nelson getting a tow to Brooklyn ... presumably for some repairs after it caught fire on East Sixth Street a few weeks back....

This evening on Sixth Street near Avenue A ... where the RV caught on fire this morning...
Meanwhile, as EV Grieve reader Creature notes, Free Willie's friend, Old Flat Top, came over to console it...
Breaking: The Free Willie Nelson is caught on fire!
Oh no! The Free Willie Nelson — the RV that usually parks around the neighborhood — caught on fire this morning. It was parked on Sixth Street near Avenue A.
What will this mean for his 50-state quest?
Thanks to @joshchambers for the photos!

The Free Willie Nelson back home
Last week, we noted that Brownstoner had spotted the Free Willie Nelson in Park Slope in recent weeks. However, over the weekend, we noticed that the RV was back home alongside his friend on Third Street near First Avenue.

The Free Willie Nelson — now parked in Park Slope
Our friends at Brownstoner note that the Free Willie Nelson — the RV that in recent years docks on Third Street near First Avenue — has been spotted in Park Slope of late. Has he taken the dream elsewhere for good? Click through for some photos.
