Filming notices for 'Gossip Girl' outside Key Food; see you in the aisles xoxo

Crews for the HBO Max reboot of "Gossip Girl" will be in the neighborhood today (Thursday!) and tomorrow (uh, Friday!).

EVG GG Watchers© have spotted filming notices on Fourth Street and along stretches of Avenue A.

Storylines for season 2 have been kept under wraps, so we might as well speculate what the young adults from Constance Billard-St. Jude's School are going to be doing.

The proximity of the notices to Key Food can only mean that the grocery will play a — pardon this — key role in a plot line, like (typing out loud here) that Zoya buys a "cake for any occasion" here as a makeup gift for the canceled Julien or Monet de Haan has a crisis of it-girl status while looking for the moved-several-times Skinny Pop. Or maybe the gang stops by for to-go sushi for lunch on the steps of the Met. (Yes, it's out of the way and not really very good, but through the magic of TVmaking, the Brooklyn Bridge seems like 4 blocks to Central Park.)

(As an aside: Given the no parking signs around Key, where are all the delivery trucks going to idle/double park over the next two days? On the lawn at Village View?)

Anyway, GG notices are also posted outside Katz's, which might mean a GG-corned beef combo is in our future... one can dream!
Season 2 reportedly started filming in February, with a shoot here on March 1. No word on a release date.

The East Village was a popular location during the run of the original CW series (2007-2012) ... like outside Doc Holliday's ... or inside Veselka.

'Gossip Girl' is filming today xoxo

Crews are out today to film scenes for the HBO Max version of "Gossip Girl" ...  so expect to see some lights, cameras, trucks and action nearby along streets that include Bond between the Bowery and Lafayette.

This will be for season 2 of the standalone series to the CW version (2007-2012).

As you likely know, several unresolved storylines hang in the balance after Season 1. What can we expect from Audrey, Aki and Max's new relationship? How will Zoya fare making new friends away from Julien? And what of the possible Kate-Julien collaboration? Feel free to leave your thoughts on the EVG GG LiveJournal!

Next stop of the 'Gossip Girl' tour — Veselka

Back in February, Veselka was closed for part of a day while crews filmed a scene for the television program "Gossip Girl" there...

And the Very Special Veselka episode aired last night...

To the Twittersphere for some reaction!

Noted

"Gossip Girl" star Penn Badgley is doing his best to get over his split with beautiful co-star Blake Lively. Sources said he ended up canoodling two women at the same East Village dive bar the other night. One spy told us, "He danced provocatively and made out with one girl, a gorgeous brunette, then moved on to another young woman, who he kissed in the cab on the way home." (Page Six)

Why some people really hate 'Gossip Girl' right about now

'Gossip Girl' is back to film in the neighborhood... with signs up on St. Mark's Place, Ninth Street and 10th Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue...

And we've heard grumbling from people who had to dig out of snowbound parking spaces this weekend and attempt to find somewhere else to stow their cars...

The Blake Lively photos that I could have taken yesterday in the East Village if....

...I had a really BIG lens and hung out with the paparazzi for hours ...or vice versa!

Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Taylor Momsen

Woo! Go Search Engines!

OK, OK... the "Gossip Girl" filming continued at 10th Street and Avenue A this evening...

...a Halloween scene, so everyone wore masks... so you couldn't even tell the difference between, say, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley, though I think his calves are smoother...

...and even the presence of a "Gossip Girl" truck didn't make Table 12's sidewalk cafe any more appealing...

Waiting for Blake Lively and stuff

The 'Gossip Girl' shoot is under way....

St. Nicholas of Myra on 10th Street and Avenue A....

...is being transformed into a Halloween party scene...

After 10 dull minutes, a PA shooed gawkers along, noting that the cast hasn't even arrived just yet....

...which is true, since they're all in my apartment now frontloading... Gotta go — think that Westwick just clogged the shitter.

'Gossip Girl' returns to the East Village, a headline that may score me some awesome SEO!

Well, I've pretty much stopped mentioning when TV shows and movies are filming around the East Village... It's pretty commonplace. Unless! It's a life-altering production, such as "The Smurfs 2: We Spit on Your Grave" and "Step Up 3D." And, "Gossip Girl," which will be filming on parts of Avenue A and Ninth Street, etc., on Friday.

The drama, popular among young adults, has an all-star cast that includes teen stars Willie Aames, Kristy MacNichol and Melissa Gilbert.

Careful, E, hell hath no fury like a "Gossip Girl" fan scorned.

The Times goes to the Mars Bar with one of those guys who's in "Gossip Girl"

The Times does its "A Night Out With" feature this week with Penn Badgley, one of the "Gossip Girl" cast members. Other Music starts the night. Then!

He stopped first at the John Varvatos store on the Bowery that replaced CBGB. After poring over dress shirts and vintage stereo equipment that cost about the same, Mr. Badgley declared, "At least they didn’t turn it into a bank."

A few blocks east, he arrived at Mars Bar, the grimy dive where tourists go in search of authentic punks and authentic punks go to start drinking at midday. He seemed unsure of his choice of bars ("I think it's closed," he said), but then he threw open its front door and entered.

A Sid Vicious cover of "Something Else" was blaring on the jukebox, and the narrow bar was crowded with colorful patrons. "I think we're wearing the same sneakers," Mr. Badgley said, pointing to a barfly in a patchwork of tattered winter gear and brown Nikes. (The woman with him was similarly attired, wearing a hula hoop as an accessory.)

As Mr. Badgley reached across to grab a watery Bud Light, he accidentally nudged someone with a tattoo of a revolver on his neck and quickly apologized. "That's all right, brother," the man said. "You’re beautiful-looking."

His girlfriend, tall and thin with her hair in long bangs, clearly recognized Mr. Badgley but acted as if she didn’t care. "I think it's completely ridiculous," she said of "Gossip Girl." "I don’t really watch it 'cause it's not my scene."

And the piece ends on this note:

As Mr. Badgley left the bar, Black Sabbath’s "Fairies Wear Boots" was playing. "I've found that people are cool if you don't treat them like jerks," he said.
