As seen today on Third Street between Avenue A and Avenue B, a two-fer. (Thanks, Joseph Borduin, for the photo.)

The rainy Memorial Day must have prompted some spring cleaning... above, someone hastily tried to hide the evidence of a Christmas tree, stripping its branches and stuffing the remains into a box on 13th Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue. (Thanks for the pic, Liberation!)

March 24
As seen this morning on Second Avenue at Seventh Street... and just three months since Christmas Eve. There's a lot of green left in that tree (at last it looks that way on a laptop).

Noted
A reader shared this photo today from Avenue A and 13th Street ... unsure if the remains leaning against the light pole can be counted as a discarded Christmas tree on this March 4.
Lab testing will confirm...

Why did someone wait until today to throw away their Christmas tree from 2011?

Dec. 9
From Third Street just west of Avenue B. Concerned Citizen asks, Too soon? (Or maybe too late?)
Anyway, let's just get Christmas over with. Don't forget to watch the New Year's Eve ball drop next Saturday, Dec. 16!

Oct. 11 (Oct. 12 edition)
An EVG reader submitted this find, spotted yesterday on Stanton Street... complete with a remora tree attached.
We're checking the archives to see if this is the latest that we've documented a discarded Christmas tree...

OK, so not a real tree... still, we can dream of a _ _ _ _ _ Christmas here on St. Mark's Place between Avenue A and First Avenue.

THIS JUST IN.
Jackflashnyc spotted this outside 97 1/2 E. Seventh St. between Avenue A and First Avenue.
Per Jackflashnyc: "Seems to have a good string of lights, stand and one glass ornament, though needles are getting a bit dry."

Thursday's parting shot (aka June 15)
A reader shared this photo from Cooper Square today... a mere six months from Christmas... or to next the Christmas season.

Monday's parting shot (aka June 5)
EVG reader roflo shared this photo today from Fourth Street between Avenue C and Avenue D... where there was a stash of Christmas trees discarded on the sidewalk.
Per Roflo: "Maybe 10 in all, some still with stands. No idea what kind of Christmas time capsule this was… but it smells fantastic, like Christmas in June."

In submitting this photo from St. Mark's Place near Avenue A today, EVG regular Jose Garcia (jg) asks a reasonable question:
If there is any sort of "Best in Show" category might this specimen be worthy of consideration given how much fancier it is than the average belatedly discarded holiday tree?
The question is now in the hands of the holiday steering committee

A reader-submitted photo today on Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue... seems a little early to be tossing a space-saving Christmas tree (unless you need the space for Halloween decorations)...
