Today is the day for the new, smaller TD Bank to debut on 3rd Avenue

Meanwhile, in bank branch news, the new, more compact TD Bank branch debuts today at 47-53 Third Ave. between 10th Street and 11th Street.

As previously mentioned, workers have been dividing up the retail space here, with TD Bank downsizing and vacating the corner spot...
No word if this branch will bring back a coin-counting machine to this location. (TD did away with them in 2016!)

A study cited by Banking Dive on Friday reported that "[b]ranch transaction volume has declined an average of 7% over the past seven years, while mobile payments are forecasted to grow 25% per year through 2026." So banks are shedding some real estate.

According to the retail listing, the corner storefront will be available starting in September after its de-TD'd .... and with an ask of $150 per square foot. What type of vape shop would you like to see open here?

TD Bank is shrinking on 3rd Avenue

You may have noticed the construction at 47-53 Third Ave. between 10th Street and 11th Street ... workers are dividing up the retail space, and sources tell us that the TD Bank is downsizing and will vacant the corner spot.

According to the listing,  the corner storefront will be available starting in September with an ask of $150 per square foot. (Bring back Bendiner & Schlesinger blood labs!

TD's mini move continues the trend in which banks downsize their branch networks. Per CNBC on Friday: "U.S. banks shuttered 2,927 branches last year, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data."

Thanks to Steven for the photo...

The fucking TD Bank branch is now open on Second Avenue

Hey, that TD Bank branch anchoring the Jupiter 21 building on Second Avenue at East First Street officially opened yesterday. We walked by and were greeted by no fewer than 14 TD employees on the sidewalk offering free coffee and pastries or something pastry like. They were friendly! (But we missed the TD mascot!)

Did anyone go in to be among the first 100 visitors to receive a free gift? If so, then please let us know what the gift was!

And, as you know, the corner space was home to the Mars Bar until 2011… And, well, what the hell…

Meanwhile, some WTF variation of the Mars Bar is returning to East First Street … in a cafe-restaurant-club combo that will feature a juice bar and quinoa bowls.

Previously on EV Grieve:
The former Mars Bar is becoming a fucking bank branch

So where's that fucking bank branch that's taking the former Mars Bar space?

The fucking TD Bank signage arrives at the former home of the Mars Bar

TD Bank branch opening next Friday on 2nd Avenue; party with free gift for the 1st 100 visitors!

Hey, that TD Bank branch anchoring the Jupiter 21 building on Second Avenue at East First Street is opening late next week.

The new neighborly neighbors placed welcome brochures on cars around the, uh, neighborhood with more details… the trees are coming! (And how many trees went into making these brochures???)

Any thoughts on what the gift might be? (Do banks still give out toasters? Or have they downsized to toaster mitts?)

Of course this Grand Opening Celebration will cause the new Mars Bar coming to a space somewhere in this building to ramp up their own First Day/Night Extravaganza.

Report: Building housing TD Bank and SVA dorms on 3rd Ave. and E. 10th St. hits the market

The 5-story building that houses a TD bank on Third Avenue and East 10th Street is for sale for $28 million, The Real Deal reports this morning.

The building "has 28 one-and-two bedroom apartments and will be delivered vacant." (Actually, isn't this a dorm for SVA students?)

Also, there are "an additional 7,802 square feet of as-of-right air rights," per The Real Deal. Perhaps NYU will take another crack at this property? The school originally wanted the site, according to The Villager.

Prior to construction of this new building, the address housed Bendiner & Schlesinger blood labs. The place was demolished in 2005... there was a plaque on the East 10th Street side commemorating Peter Stuyvesant, whose family once owned the buildings.
