Let it fake snow! Let it fake snow! Let it fake snow!

Crews for NBC's "The Village" are out turning 10th Street and Second Avenue into a Winter Wonderland for the upcoming shoot that also involves the return of the Tree Riders to the neighborhood.

EVG Props and Artificial Snow‎ Correspondent Steven shared these photos from a little earlier... will likely look better on TV...

The ghost stand of Christmas past: Holiday confusion as trees return to 2nd Avenue

The EVG inbox lit up this afternoon like a Christmas tree after multiple readers shared photos of the tree stand returning to Second Avenue outside St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery.

This was the very spot that the Tree Riders had this past holiday season before they packed it up on Dec. 24.

Salim, who shared this photo below, notes that the trees appeared this afternoon, seemingly ready for sale, though no one was around to actually sell them. A ghost stand!

Meanwhile, Derek Berg spotted these workers delivering trees to a nearly locale in the Abe Lebewohl Triangle at 10th/Stuyvesant this afternoon ...

Apparently all this is prep work for holiday-related scenes tomorrow for "The Village," a new NBC series that has been filming around here in recent months.

Updated

I asked the Tree Riders via Facebook what was happening: "NBC liked our set up so much they asked us to come back after the holidays for a shoot!"

The return of 'The Village,' and the loss of a tree

[Filming "The Village" on 12th Street on Oct. 19]

Crews for the NBC series "The Village" return to the neighborhood today for more filming on parts of Second Avenue, Third Avenue and slide streets, including 11th...

They shot scenes here back on Oct. 18-19 as well. Several EVG readers shared info about a Gingko tree (seen here from November 2017) on 11th Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue...

... that was, unfortunately, damaged by one of the production trucks on either Oct. 18 or 19... the tree needed to be removed ...

A tipster shared this response from the location manager:

We are devastated that this beautiful tree was damaged. It was obviously an accident and we are looking into the details at the moment. We have called the authorities to file a report and are proactively contacting the NYC Department of Forestry to figure out how to most efficiently rectify the matter. If anyone in the association has experience with replacing trees we are totally will to cover any cost to rectify the damage.

We sincerely apologize for the damage and hope that we can do everything possible to fix the issue.

I promise you we are not going to walk away from any issue, and we want to see this resolved and everyone happy.

Another tipster said that the production company will make a donation to the East 11th St. Block Association, who will use the money to install tree guards (they had already been saving up for them).

This is not the first time a film crew's equipment truck damaged a tree on a side street (here for instance). However, this is the first time some people can recall a production company apologizing and trying to make amends.

As for "The Village," NBC's website has this synopsis:

Welcome to The Village, an apartment building in Brooklyn that appears like any other from the outside — but is quite unique inside. The people who reside here have built a bonded family of friends and neighbors. Sarah's a nurse and single mom raising a creative teen; Gabe's a young law student, who just got a much older and unexpected roommate; Ava must secure the future of her young, U.S.-born son when ICE comes knocking; Nick's a veteran, who's just returned from war; and the heart and soul of the building, Ron and Patricia, have captivating tales all their own. These are the hopeful, heartwarming and challenging stories of life that prove family is everything, even if it's the one you make with the people around you.

Wednesday's parting shots

Crews today transformed Via Della Pace on Seventh Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue into Hobart & Blackwell...

... this was apparently a reshoot for "The Goldfinch," the adaptation of Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel starring Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, Luke Kleintank, Ansel Elgort and Finn Wolfhard, among others. (Crews filmed here during the winter as well.)

The drama has an Oct. 11, 2019 release date.

It takes a Village

Crews have been out the past two days/nights on Third Avenue and 11th Street and 12th Street (and elsewhere) filming a new NBC series called "The Village" ... which is set in — Brooklyn.

The above photo is from 12th Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue tonight.

Per the NBC synopsis:

Maybe these are just scenes where, say, Ron and Patricia are at a party on 12th Street and something captivating happens.

'The Deuce' on 2nd Avenue

Crews for the HBO series "The Deuce" continue to film around the neighbor... and EVG regular Daniel shared these photos ... showing some 1970s-era vehicles parked along Second Avenue (the show likes Second Avenue) between 10th Street and 11th Street that will be put to use during filming later...

... Lola Sáenz passed along this photo from the morning rush...

Meanwhile, the Second Avenue branch of Tompkins Square Bagels is getting a throwback look...

Oh! And at the movies... EVG reader Alta Tseng shared this transformation of the Village East Cinema at 12th Street...

"The Deuce," a porn-industry drama set in the 1970s, is now in its second season...
